Role Title: Physician Assistant Per Diem Los Angeles

Location: Remote/virtual-first, with occasional on-site presence at Haven Health Los Angeles, CA.

Schedule: Weekend and flexible per-diem shifts; available for vacation and leave coverage throughout the year.

Target Hourly / Per-Shift Rate: $70 -$90/hour


The Opportunity

We're building a trusted bench of PRN Physician Assistants to support Haven Health's growing virtual care footprint, with a focus on weekend availability and vacation/leave coverage for our core clinical team. This role is part of the launch of our new virtual-first product experience, delivering affirming, high-quality primary care almost entirely through telehealth. You'll have the flexibility of a per-diem schedule while playing a hands-on role in shaping how Haven Health delivers care virtually.

What You'll Do

Clinical Care

  • Provide comprehensive careincluding acute, chronic, and preventive visitsfor patients across the lifespan.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, STIs, mental health, gender-affirming care).
  • Perform in-office procedures when appropriate.
  • Order and interpret labs, diagnostics, and imaging; manage prescriptions; and complete documentation in accordance with Haven Health clinical protocols.
  • Provide same-day and weekend coverage for urgent patient needs when the core clinical team is unavailable.

Vacation & Leave Coverage

  • Step in as needed to cover for full-time providers during vacation, sick leave, and other planned or unplanned absences.
  • Maintain continuity of care by reviewing patient charts and handoff notes ahead of each covered shift.
  • Manage clinical inboxes, follow-ups, and messages across channels during coverage periods.

Product Launch & Virtual Care Experience

  • Serve as a founding clinical team member voice in the launch of Haven Health's new products, helping test and refine the end-to-end telehealth patient experience.
  • Provide clinical feedback on virtual intake, triage, and visit workflows as new features roll out.
  • Help identify where virtual care protocols need adjustment for quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
  • Support pilot programs and new service lines as Haven Health scales.

Collaboration & Culture

  • Work in close partnership with physicians and medical assistants to ensure seamless patient flow.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and affirming team culture.
  • Provide input into clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
Who You Are

Must-Haves (Non-Negotiables)

  • PA-C with a current license in California.
  • Graduate of an accredited PA program; NCCPA certified.
  • Experience in treating LGBTQ+ patients.
  • 2+ years of clinical experience in primary care, family medicine, or related outpatient specialty; or 1+ year with relevant fellowship or urgent care exposure.
  • Demonstrated comfort and proficiency delivering care via telehealth/virtual visits.
  • Availability for weekend shifts and the flexibility to pick up coverage on relatively short notice.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and virtual care workflows.
  • Excellent diagnostic and clinical judgment in a virtual/outpatient setting.
  • Commitment to confidentiality (HIPAA), safe prescribing, and regulatory compliance, including multi-state telehealth prescribing rules where applicable.

Strong Pluses (You'll thrive if you have these)

  • Experience with hormone therapy, sexual health, or transgender healthcare.
  • Prior experience in a startup, fast-scaling healthcare operation, or digital health product launch.
  • Comfort giving structured feedback on product and workflow design.
  • Experience with Elation or similar EHR platforms.
  • Bilingual a plus.
