What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Pediatric Medical Coder, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Pediatric Medical Coder, you need a solid understanding of pediatric medical terminology, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, typically supported by a coding certification such as CPC, CCA, or CCS. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, coding software, and secure remote work platforms is essential. Attention to detail, self-motivation, and strong communication skills are crucial for accurately coding records and collaborating with healthcare providers from a distance. These skills ensure precise billing, compliance with regulations, and efficient remote workflow, which are critical for healthcare reimbursement and data integrity.

What is the difference between Remote Pediatric Medical Coder vs Remote Medical Coder?

AspectRemote Pediatric Medical CoderRemote Medical Coder

Work EnvironmentRemote, healthcare facilities, medical billing companiesRemote, hospitals, clinics, insurance companies
Industry UsageSpecializes in pediatric medical records and billingHandles various medical specialties, including adult and pediatric

The main difference between a Remote Pediatric Medical Coder and a Remote Medical Coder is the specialization. The pediatric coder focuses exclusively on pediatric medical records, requiring specific knowledge of pediatric coding guidelines. In contrast, the general medical coder handles a broader range of medical specialties. Both roles often require similar certifications and work environments, but the pediatric coder's expertise is tailored to children's healthcare documentation.

How much do medical coders make WFH?

Remote pediatric medical coders typically earn between $40,000 and $60,000 annually, depending on experience, certifications, and employer. Many work flexible schedules and use coding software like ICD-10 and CPT to perform their tasks from home.

What pays more, CCS or CPC?

For a remote pediatric medical coder, Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentials generally lead to higher salaries than Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentials due to the advanced training and specialization involved. However, actual pay can vary based on experience, employer, and geographic location, with CCS often commanding a premium in hospital and facility settings. Both certifications are valuable, but CCS typically offers higher earning potential in the coding field.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Pediatric Medical Coders, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Pediatric Medical Coders often encounter challenges such as staying updated with frequently changing pediatric coding guidelines and managing complex cases that involve multiple diagnoses or procedures. Communication with healthcare providers can also be more difficult when working remotely, making clarification of documentation essential. To address these challenges, coders should participate in regular continuing education, utilize secure communication tools to stay in touch with team members and providers, and develop strong organizational skills to manage their workload efficiently. Many organizations also offer mentorship and support networks to help remote coders stay connected and informed.

Will AI eventually replace medical coders?

Remote pediatric medical coders use specialized knowledge to review and assign medical codes, a task that AI can assist but not fully replace due to the need for clinical judgment and understanding of complex cases. AI tools are increasingly used to improve efficiency, but human oversight remains essential for accuracy and compliance. Coding professionals who stay updated on technology and maintain certifications will continue to be valuable in the evolving healthcare environment.

What is a Remote Pediatric Medical Coder?

A Remote Pediatric Medical Coder is a healthcare professional who reviews and assigns standardized codes to pediatric medical records from a remote location, typically working from home. These codes are used for billing, insurance claims, and maintaining accurate patient records. Remote Pediatric Medical Coders must understand pediatric diagnoses and procedures, be familiar with coding systems like ICD-10 and CPT, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Their work helps ensure that healthcare providers are properly reimbursed and that patient information is accurately documented.

Job description

Product Designer, AI Design Systems
About PropertyRadar
PropertyRadar is the hyperlocal lead generation platform that property-centric small businesses use to discover, understand, and connect with new opportunities. We turn complex public records data into actionable insights for real estate investors, agents, lenders, and home services pros.
We've been doing this since 2007. We're profitable, owner-operated, and small enough that what you ship matters - every release moves the business. We're investing in a modern data and frontend platform to power the next decade of growth, and we're hiring engineers who can help us build it.
We're looking for a Product Designer who can help shape the next generation of PropertyRadar's product experience by building scalable, high-quality systems that work for humans and are structured clearly enough to support AI-assisted implementation.
About the role
You'll help evolve PropertyRadar's visual language, component systems, and design documentation so our interfaces are more consistent, more scalable, and better aligned with how modern engineering teams and AI-assisted workflows build software.
You should be equally comfortable auditing an existing product, defining scalable UI patterns, improving polish and consistency, and translating design intent into structured systems that engineers, and AI tools can reliably use.
What you'll do
  • Own product design work for key initiatives with a high level of autonomy
  • Audit existing product surfaces to identify inconsistencies, duplication, and opportunities for stronger systemization
  • Define and evolve a cohesive visual language that improves quality and consistency across the product
  • Build and maintain responsive, flexible, variant-based component libraries in Figma
  • Translate research, UX intent, and product requirements into polished visual design, flows, and interaction patterns
  • Partner closely with product and engineering to ensure design quality carries through implementation
  • Help structure design tokens, component definitions, naming conventions, and documentation so they are clear, reusable, and machine-readable where appropriate
  • Create documentation that reduces ambiguity for both human teammates and AI-assisted development workflows
  • Anticipate how design systems should evolve as AI design and coding tools become more capable
  • Continuously improve how design decisions are captured, communicated, and handed off

What we're looking for
  • 2+ years of experience in product design for web applications, SaaS products, design systems, or complex digital products
  • A portfolio that shows strong systems thinking, product judgment, and high-quality visual execution
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted design or prototyping tools
  • Deep experience building and maintaining design systems
  • Expert-level Figma skills, including variables, component properties, Auto Layout, and documentation best practices
  • Strong understanding of how structured design systems support implementation across modern frontend environments
  • Experience working closely with engineers and communicating design decisions clearly across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong aesthetic judgment, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive, ownership-minded working style with the ability to move work forward independently

Nice to have
  • Experience designing for data-rich products, workflow-heavy interfaces, or B2B SaaS
  • Familiarity with design tokens, structured handoff formats, or system documentation standards
  • Experience designing for multi-surface applications such as web, embedded, mobile, or extension-based experiences

Why this role is exciting
At PropertyRadar, this role sits at the intersection of product design, systems thinking, and emerging AI-assisted product development. You'll help shape how design scales across multiple product environment, influence the quality and consistency of the customer experience, and build systems that make both designers and engineers more effective.
If you love bringing order to complexity, designing thoughtful interfaces, and building systems that will matter even more a year from now than they do today, we'd love to hear from you.
PropertyRadar Perks & Benefits
  • Place-based but remote-friendly
  • Position requires working USA Business Hours
  • Compensation $65,000 - $85,000
  • Flex-time off & holidays
  • Competitive medical, dental, vision, and 401K benefits
  • Collaborative, get-things-done culture that values both hard work and outdoor fun
  • Unique opportunity to make a difference for small businesses using data and technology
