The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding an Operations Lead to our dynamic ActiveOps team in Detroit, MI. The Operations Lead will lead the transition from new client discovery pilot phase (s) to launch and implementation of annuity client contract delivery of Facilities Operations scopes of work.  Develops relationship with client and client facing team to energize and inform the joint planning & design activities including engagement as on-account leader. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Quickly establishes rapport with client leadership team and dedicated McKinstry onsite client team members to address what they need most and build trust.

  • Draw from operations experience to lead the delivery of client outcomes with a positive attitude, heart of service and a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Develops and continuously improves detailed transition plan as a multi-stakeholder collaboration tool with client facing dashboard for the establishment of ActiveOps program delivery.

  • Works directly with the Senior Program Manager - ActiveOps to receive the project scope hand off and take over supporting/leading the client into the launch of implementation with oversight of delivery.

  • Manages the completion of one-time tasks required to set up new client, with consideration to the holistic, ActiveOps program, while identifying opportunities for efficiencies and increased client savings and value.

  • Identifies important characteristics of each dedicated on-account role and team members.  Participates fully in the recruitment, interview, selection, hiring and onboarding of each.

  • Draws resources from across McKinstry teams (Energy, Technical Services, Digital Buildings, Project Management, InfoCentre, Measurement & Verification, Finance & Accounting, Vendor Management, et.al.) and coordinates prioritization to meet project milestone dates.

  • Creates vision for solving client challenges and identifies McKinstry capabilities to successfully bring forward for future opportunities.

  • Leads incremental approaches to pilot new scopes of work; for example building automation system controls, gateways, active energy management, remote operations, powered, et.al.

  • Assigns and manages tasks leveraging the most qualified individual resources to work in concert with each other to prepare for both day1 launch and the future expansion and delivery of each ActiveOps annuity contract.

  • Performs verification that the work, priorities, and completed tasks are coming together on schedule, and removes hurdles to ensure that McKinstry is meeting or exceeding the client expectations.

  • Acts as ambassador for McKinstry Student Engagement to establish McKinstry support of Great America Teach In (s), STEM Fairs, and Building Good.

  • Support existing ActiveOps Operations Directors with major initiatives including project planning, project management and client facing communications.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • 10-15 Years of relevant experience including client facing responsibilities

  • Highly proficient project management and people influencer

  • Excellent communicator; written, verbal, formal and informal

  • Comfortable using and developing tools using Microsoft Project/Planner, Smartsheet, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Claude AI, and accounting software systems

The pay range for this position is $126,900 - $195,480 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
