Job description

The Senior Director of Media Transformation & Operations will lead the evolution of Best Buy’s media investment across enterprise media full funnel and retail media channels. This role is responsible for modernizing media operations, driving efficiency through AI/automation and technology, and enabling scalable growth across Best Buy Ads, marketplace, and enterprise marketing. The leader will partner cross-functionally within the media organization and across marketing, product technology, 3rd party providers, and Ads’ sales to build a best-in-class media operation enabled by advanced automation, AI adoption, and data driven decisioning.
This role is remote eligible, which means you will work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. However, you must be located within a commutable distance to the Chicago metro area. The specific work arrangements may vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
What you’ll do
  • Lead end-to-end transformation of media, including planning, buying, trafficking, reporting & optimization, billing, and ad ops
  • Design and implement scalable operating models to support growth of Best Buy Ads (retail media network) and marketplace initiatives
  • Identify workflow and process opportunities to increase speed and effectiveness across full funnel media process
  • Lead media AI center of excellence, developing and coordinating use cases and learning agenda, and developing an AI-ready culture
  • Drive adoption of automation, AI, and platform integrations to reduce manual workflows, shorten speed to market, and improve data driven decisioning
  • Establish governance frameworks, standard operating procedures and processes across all media channels
  • Lead and manage relationships with key media platforms, agencies, and technology vendors
  • Lead media operations, inclusive of agency management, portfolio budget management and billing across the enterprise and Ads
  • Define ad ops strategy and standards across trafficking, tagging, QA and delivery
Basic qualifications
  • 12 years of experience in media planning/buying, operations, ad operations, or marketing transformation, preferably within retail, eCommerce, or retail media networks. Familiarity with auction dynamics, yield management, and pricing strategies for owned media
  • 12 years of experience in media platforms (e.g., paid social, programmatic, search) and ad tech ecosystems (DSPs, ad servers, clean rooms)
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale build or transformation initiatives across people, process, and technology
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing in-house team while also maximizing agency resources
Preferred qualifications
  • Demonstrated success implementing automation and workflow tools in large organizations (e.g., Prisma, Placements.io, WorkFront or similar systems)
  • Experience managing agencies and external partners at scale
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience in measurement frameworks, attribution models, and performance optimization
  • Bachelors degree or higher preferred
