What You Will Do

The Investor Equity Operations Accountant will be an integral part of the product sponsor, broker dealer, registered investment advisor operations, and compliance departments. To be successful in our equity operations group the fund accountant must enjoy working with numbers, collaborating with other departments, and possess the following attributes: meticulous, intermediate/advanced EXCEL skills, independent initiative-taker, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated leadership is a plus.

The operations accountant will be a critical collaborator in the equity operations initiatives of the firm. The role will generally be responsible for maintaining the firm's proprietary database management and corresponding investor capital movement. This role will be based out of Newport Beach, California and report to the Private Equity Fund Account Manager.

What Your Day Consists Of

  • Ensuring accuracy of data related to our investors, partnerships, properties, and third-party custodian

  • Assisting with valuations, distributions, contributions, and investor elections

  • Facilitating money movement between third party escrow accounts and partnership accounts

  • Monitoring loans between CWS affiliated entities

  • Calculate Capital Calls and distributions

  • Allocating Income to Investors in Accordance with Entity Agreements

  • Reviewing and understanding investment/legal documents

  • Implementing best practices and striving to provide world class service to our clients while actively seeking ways to improve the workflow and processes

  • Lead communications at Senior Level with client personnel and investment professionals both internally and externally

  • Participate and lead projects within the department that improve efficiency, mitigate risk, and deliver exceptional service

  • Maintain a direct relationship with outside audit and tax partners

  • Assist with recruiting as needed

  • Always represent CWS in a professional manner internally and externally

  • Manage and monitor timely completion of client deliverables

  • Create, maintain, and or review capital calls, waterfall structures, and distributions

  • Ensure investor fees are properly calculated and allocated to investors within our proprietary database

  • Prepare and review all investor allocations and ensure compliance with fund documents

  • Read and understand fund offering documents (PPM, OA, Amendments, etc.)

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement changes and corrective measures as needed

  • Computation of management fees in various periods, carried interest, and preferred returns and regularly report to the partners of CWS

What You Bring To Us

  • Five years of experience with a private investment company

  • Knowledge of various ratios: IRR, time weighted returns, investment multiples, etc.

  • Degreed candidates and CPA preferred

  • Deep knowledge of private equity fund structure

  • Securities licenses and experience with an RIA are preferred

  • Experience in modeling equity waterfalls in EXCEL is preferred

  • Hybrid work schedule. Monday-Thursday in office, Friday remote.
