Microfocus Cobol Developer (Remote) 

About this role: 
As a Micro Focus COBOL Developer you will design, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications built on COBOL systems that support critical business operations. In this role, the developer analyzes legacy code, implements new features, resolves defects, and ensures system performance and reliability across mainframe or distributed environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate modern technologies, support system migrations or upgrades, and maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and data integrity while supporting large-scale transactional systems often used in industries such as government services, healthcare, and finance.

Responsibilities: 
Analysis, design, programming, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of system that supports Point-of-Sale and Batch processes using Microfocus Cobol, CICS, Oracle and JCL. 
Analyze RFP documentation, meet with appropriate team members or clients, analyze software factors, assist with proposal work, and complete design documentation and estimates that meet the business requirements. 
Accurately and completely develop and unit test software solutions to meet client requirements. 
Develop testing recommendations for more in-depth testing for modifications. 
Provide on-call support on need basis. 
Resolve any issues that present themselves in a timely manner to prevent system outages. 
Investigate, resolve and document assigned issues and propose / implement solutions. 
Assist in discussions with clients and/or in the explanations of the issues, and recommended solutions. 
Assist in preparation of functional specifications for application systems, presentation of system requirements and designs to client personnel. 
Develop status reports of development activities weekly, to appropriate management. 
Assist with update of report documentation and system exhibits. 

Requirements: 
Demonstrate 7 years working on Microfocus Cobol, CICS, JCL, and Oracle in Linux environment 
Demonstrate strong expertise in Microfocus Cobol, Oracle 10g or 11g, CICS, JCL 
Build applications using web services (SOAP/REST) and microservices architecture 
Solve complex technical problems and learn new technologies quickly 
Able to code complex SQL statements 
Hands on exposure working on Microfocus Net Express (IDE) 
Red Hat Linux OS 
Experience developing or supporting a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) system 
Mainframe Knowledge 
Demonstrate at least 3 years of U.S.-based experience 

Preferred Qualifications: 
Apply experience with IBM COBOL, ACUCOBOL, COBOL 
Demonstrate familiarity with Any ANSI Database 
Utilize SQL exposure on any database 
Demonstrate Experience developing or supporting an MMIS

The estimated salary range for this role is (80,080 - $104,000)
