Job description

Denali Staffing Group is proud to support a multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, and interior design firm that operates in a primarily remote work environment. This organization delivers projects nationwide-from major metropolitan areas to remote rural communities. Through our staffing partnership, we are seeking top-tier engineering talent to support their continued growth and commitment to excellence.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Structural Engineer to join the team. This role involves structural analysis, design, and engineering across diverse projects-from wood-frame construction to metal-framed structures and pre-engineered metal buildings requiring foundation design. You will collaborate closely with architects and designers, contributing to projects that are both challenging and rewarding.

Candidates must have experience with heavy snow load and high seismic conditions. Licensure in Alaska with Alaska-specific experience is highly preferred. If not currently licensed in Alaska, candidates must have a clear path through the NCEES process to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe, including the ability to complete the Cold Regions Engineering course.

This is a remote position with occasional site visits. All required travel is company-covered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct independent engineering work, applying professional judgment in design and analysis.
  • Develop and adapt drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs.
  • Perform structural design and analysis using governing codes, standards, and engineering formulas.
  • Collaborate with architects and interior designers to integrate structural solutions.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with codes and best practices.
  • Conduct occasional site visits as required.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed engineer (10 years preferred).
  • Experience with colder climates, high wind, and snow loads is a plus.

Licensing

  • Must be licensed in the State of Washington.
  • Strong preference for candidates licensed in the State of Alaska.
  • Candidates must be prepared to provide proof of all active state licenses.
  • Alaska licensure must be obtained within an acceptable timeframe if not already held (company assistance available).

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S.-accredited institution.

Skills

  • Proficiency with structural design software (e.g., RISA 3D or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of structural codes, engineering practices, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Experience with computer-assisted design (CAD) software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, team-oriented environment.

Eligibility

  • Must be a U.S. citizen residing in the United States.
  • Preference for candidates located in the western U.S. due to frequent virtual team meetings.

Schedule

  • Mondayโ€“Thursday, 7:00 AM โ€“ 5:30 PM PST

Employment Options

  • Full-time employee with benefits (after probationary period)
  • Contract (1099) arrangement
