Familiarity with MDS software (like PointClickCare), electronic health records (EHR), and CMS guidelines is typically required, along with RAC-CT certification being highly desirable. Excellent attention to detail, strong communication, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills in remote settings. These skills and qualities ensure accurate patient assessments, regulatory compliance, and effective collaboration across healthcare teams despite working remotely.
A typical day for a Remote MDS Nurse involves reviewing patient records, completing and submitting MDS assessments, and ensuring all documentation meets regulatory and facility standards. You’ll frequently collaborate with on-site nursing staff, interdisciplinary care teams, and sometimes residents’ families to gather and clarify information.
