What is a remote masters in immunology?

A Remote Masters in Immunology is a graduate-level degree program that allows students to study immunology, the science of the immune system, entirely online or with minimal on-campus requirements. These programs typically cover advanced topics such as immune response, immunogenetics, infectious diseases, and research methods. Remote learning offers flexibility for working professionals or students in different locations, while still providing the same rigorous curriculum as on-campus programs. Graduates are prepared for careers in research, healthcare, biotechnology, or to pursue further education such as a PhD.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote masters in immunology professional?

To thrive as a professional with a Remote Master's in Immunology, you need a strong background in biological sciences, laboratory techniques, and research methodology, typically supported by a master's degree in immunology or a related field. Proficiency with bioinformatics tools, statistical software (such as R or Python), and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is often required. Excellent written communication, critical thinking, and self-motivation are vital soft skills for excelling in remote research or collaboration environments. These skills and qualities ensure effective scientific inquiry, data analysis, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to immunological research from a remote setting.

Job description

Role Overview

The Research and Translational Medicine group at Jade is looking to add a Principal Scientist, Translational Research, to our team. This role will provide scientific leadership across immunology-driven research activities that support Jade's pipeline programs, including mechanism-of-action studies, disease biology assessment, indication evaluation, and translational strategy. The Principal Scientist will integrate literature, experimental data, and translational insights to strengthen program rationale, inform clinical development, and identify opportunities for pipeline expansion. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, highly collaborative biotech team and contribute to the advancement of potentially best-in-class therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

This is a fully remote role, preferably based on the U.S. West Coast, with occasional domestic and international travel. The position reports to the Executive Director, Research and Translational Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead immunology-driven research strategy across pipeline programs to support scientific narrative and indication assessment, integrating literature, experimental data, and translational insights
  • Design and oversee mechanism-of-action studies to elucidate target biology, pathway modulation, and disease relevance across in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo models, executed in partnership with CROs
  • Partner closely with Translational Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, and Nonclinical teams to ensure alignment of preclinical findings with clinical strategy
  • Generate and interpret complex datasets (e.g., cellular immunology, cytokine profiling, pathway analysis), ensuring rigorous and hypothesis-driven conclusions
  • Identify and validate new targets and pathways for pipeline expansion, leveraging deep understanding of disease biology, emerging science, and internal platform capabilities
  • Evaluate and prioritize new indication opportunities, integrating mechanistic rationale, competitive landscape, and translational feasibility
  • Support external collaborations and CRO activities, providing scientific direction and technical oversight to ensure high-quality data generation
  • Author and contribute to scientific documents, including study reports, regulatory sections (e.g., IND-enabling rationale), presentations, and publications
  • Present findings to internal governance teams and external scientific forums
  • Stay current with advances in immunology, inflammation, and translational science, applying new insights to strengthen program and pipeline strategy

Qualifications

  • PhD in Immunology or related field with 8-12+ years of relevant industry experience is required
  • Deep expertise in immunology and disease biology, particularly in autoimmune and inflammatory disease mechanisms
  • Strong understanding of drug development, including how preclinical and translational data inform clinical strategy
  • Experience with immunological assays and platforms (e.g., flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD, cytokine panels, cellular assays); familiarity with advanced platforms (e.g., single-cell, proteomics) is a plus
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams (e.g., Translational Medicine, Clinical, Nonclinical)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of scientific publications and presentations
  • Ability to operate independently while contributing to a collaborative, fast-paced biotech environment

Position Location

This is a remote role; periodic travel to team and company events is required.

The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role is $175,000 - $190,000. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but not limited to, relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.Â
