Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, you will have a variety of responsibilities, including:

• Collaborating as an essential member of the primary care team to recognize, diagnose, and address mental health and psychosocial issues.
• Conducting patient intakes, focusing on detailed diagnostic and functional evaluations, and providing strategic recommendations for treatment goals and plans.
• Delivering brief, focused mental health interventions tailored to patients' immediate needs.
• Advising primary care providers on the most appropriate treatment paths, determining when clients should be referred to specialty mental health services.
• Implementing follow-up care strategies to monitor patient progress and revise treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Designing relapse prevention plans that support patient stability and recovery.
• Identifying at-risk patients and advising on interventions to prevent the exacerbation of their conditions.
• Documenting patient progress and diagnostic information accurately within treatment charts, ensuring that all health providers are informed of pertinent developments in patient care.
• Equipping patients with self-management skills and educational resources, enabling them to actively engage in their recovery process.
• Providing consultation to clinic management regarding best practices in behavioral services and program evaluations to enhance service delivery.
• Encouraging compliance with any medical treatments initiated by the primary care provider.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must possess:

• A Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling.
• A current LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) License.
• In-depth knowledge of mental health assessments, treatment planning, developmental psychopathology, and various therapeutic methodologies, including group and family therapy.
• A strong understanding of community resources and a commitment to ethical practice.
• The capacity to engage thoughtfully with patients and evaluate their individual needs within a collaborative healthcare environment.

Preferred Experience

While the following qualifications are not mandatory, they are highly valued:

• Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team in a healthcare setting.
• A background in psychodiagnostics and therapeutic techniques.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems to streamline documentation processes.

Compensation and Benefits

Veterans Crisis Intervention, Inc. offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 87,000 to 105,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
