About the role
Reporting to our VP of Research and Development, you'll play a key role in turning new ideas into scientifically grounded, commercially viable pet products.
PetLab Co.'s mission is to become the leader in science-based pet supplements. Our purpose is to help companion animals through science and innovation, creating products that can make a meaningful difference to the lives of pets and their owners. With an exciting and ever-growing pipeline featuring some of the market's most novel ingredients and product formats, there is plenty of opportunity to bring fresh thinking into the business.
You'll guide new products from early-stage innovation through formulation, substantiation, testing, and launch. Your work will include ingredient reviews, product formulation, and lab testing, working alongside our senior scientists and external partners to bring new products to life.
You'll also own a portfolio of products, research relevant ingredients, formats, markets, and category trends, and work closely with colleagues across compliance, and marketing, as well as suppliers and manufacturing partners.

Your day to day will look a little bit like this...
  • Supporting the formulation of new products for PetLabCo.'s product range, working alongside our R&D and NPD team.
  • Reviewing and optimising current products, including review of ingredient scientific data to assess suitability for new or existing formulations.
  • Supporting partnerships with suppliers and co manufactures.
  • Designing, organising and executing on studies with suitable partner organisations to bring efficacy data into PetLabCo.
  • Keeping up to date on relevant new ingredients and innovation within your area of focus.
  • Working closely with compliance and keeping abreast of evolving regulatory expectations to ensure ingredient, label and marketing claims stay compliant.
  • Working closely with the wider cross functional team to support the successful launch of products

Requirements
What You Need...
  • Bachelor's or Master's of Science in a technical area including animal science and nutrition
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience in product formulation, R&D or a related scientific field
  • Experience with product formulation and/or new product development
  • Working knowledge of ingredients, their mode of action, and quality variance
  • Experience with R&D of early stage, yet unproven ingredients
  • Experience in clearly explaining and justifying formulations and product formats
  • Project management skills, with hands-on experience contributing to the development and launch of new products, packages and processes as a technical member of a cross-functional team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and learning agility
  • Experience collaborating with outside partners to deliver project requirements
