Job description

Map & Location Data Analyst

What if knowing your city — its streets, neighborhoods, hidden gems, and recent changes — could directly improve the AI tools that millions of people rely on for navigation and local search every day?

We're looking for Map & Location Data Analysts to verify and improve AI-generated geographic data. Your on-the-ground knowledge is genuinely valuable here. Whether you know which business closed last month, which street name is misspelled, or which landmark locals actually use to orient themselves — that kind of insight is exactly what makes AI smarter.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role open to anyone with sharp attention to detail and a good sense of place. No GIS or geography degree required.

Organization: Alignerr

Type: Hourly Contract

Location: Remote

Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Review and verify AI-generated addresses, place names, and geographic data for accuracy
  • Evaluate the quality of location-based search results and local recommendations
  • Flag incorrect, outdated, or misleading location information
  • Apply your regional knowledge to provide corrections and local context
  • Complete structured, task-based assignments using maps and web-based location tools
  • Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Familiar with your local area — streets, landmarks, businesses, and how things have changed over time
  • Detail-oriented with a reliable eye for errors and inconsistencies
  • Comfortable using digital maps and web-based tools
  • Clear and concise in written communication
  • Self-motivated and consistent when working independently
  • No GIS, cartography, or formal geography experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with mapping platforms like Google Maps, Apple Maps, or OpenStreetMap
  • Background in local journalism, urban planning, real estate, or delivery logistics
  • Familiarity with AI tools or data quality workflows

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
  • Contribute to AI development that shapes how people navigate and discover the world around them
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
