Position Overview

BizTech Fusion is seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Batch Operations Engineer / Mainframe Production Control Specialist with strong expertise in JobTrac R11, mainframe batch scheduling, production control, JCL, COBOL, IMS, CICS, and z/OS operations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing production batch workloads in enterprise mainframe environments. This role will support both legacy mainframe systems and modernization/transformation initiatives, working closely with application development, infrastructure, network, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide technical support for Mainframe Production Control and batch operations using Computer Associates JobTrac R11.
  • Schedule, modify, submit, and monitor daily production mainframe jobs.
  • Manage nightly batch schedules and make scheduling adjustments to optimize mainframe resource utilization.
  • Monitor automated and manually submitted jobs and ensure critical production workloads complete within required SLAs.
  • Perform daily and weekly batch balancing and production control activities.
  • Modify and troubleshoot JCL as required by application programmers and operations teams.
  • Analyze batch execution issues, abends, delays, and performance problems and identify root causes.
  • Optimize production batch schedules and job runtimes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Support on-demand and immediate-execution batch job scheduling.
  • Provide technical support for batch failures, late critical batches, and production service restoration activities.
  • Work closely with mainframe developers on production issues, code reviews, testing, and application fixes.
  • Participate in testing and implementation of new batch processes and application releases.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, runbooks, scheduling documentation, and production support documentation.
  • Support application deployment activities and assist with creating and expanding application environments.
  • Provide technical assistance to programmers and operations personnel for mainframe-related production issues.
  • Participate in daily status meetings and provide production status updates to technical teams and management.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, network, customer support, and application development teams to resolve production issues.
  • Support both legacy mainframe applications and mainframe transformation/modernization initiatives.
