Job description

The Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA) publishes legal treatises that are staples for Maryland lawyers. We are currently updating one of our most popular resources, Pleading Causes of Action in Maryland, for its 8th Edition. 
We are seeking a second-year law student to serve as a Law Clerk, providing direct support to the treatise's volunteer authors. 
This position is ideal for a student with strong research and writing skills who is interested in legal publishing and Maryland civil procedure. 

Responsibilities 

The Law Clerk will be responsible for a variety of editorial and research tasks, including but not limited to: 
● Shepardizing cases and statutes 
● Performing cite corrections and ensuring adherence to Bluebook/style guidelines 
● Conducting case research to find new and relevant authorities 

Qualifications 

● Must be a current 2L student 
● Strong legal research and writing skills 
● Excellent attention to detail 
● Law Review / law journal experience preferred

Position Details 

Compensation: $17.00 per hour. 
Schedule: Average of 10-15 hours per week, starting immediately. 
Duration: This is a long-term project, and the ideal candidate will be able to continue in the position throughout their remaining time in law school. 
Flexibility: We understand the demands of law school; no work will be required during reading weeks or final exam periods.
