BIM / VDC Coordinator (Remote)Drive Coordination. Improve Constructability. Bring Complex Projects to Life.
We're seeking an experienced BIM/VDC Coordinator to join our team and help lead the digital delivery of complex mechanical and plumbing construction projects. In this role, you'll serve as a critical link between design, fabrication, and field installation, transforming design intent into highly detailed, constructible models that support efficient project execution.
Working remotely alongside project managers, engineers, field teams, and trade partners, you'll leverage advanced BIM and VDC technologies to improve coordination, reduce conflicts, and support successful project delivery from preconstruction through installation.

What You'll Do
As a key member of the VDC team, you will:
- Develop detailed fabrication and installation models for mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems using BIM and fabrication modeling software.
- Translate design intent, contract documents, and engineering models into highly detailed LOD 400 models that support fabrication and field installation.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, general contractors, and trade partners to identify and resolve clashes before construction begins.
- Participate in coordination meetings, both virtually and on project sites when required, to help achieve successful multi-trade coordination.
- Generate and track Requests for Information (RFIs) to resolve design and coordination issues.
- Produce fabrication, installation, shop, spool, hanger, and sleeve drawings used by fabrication and field teams.
- Create and export layout data for robotic total station field layout operations.
- Collaborate closely with field personnel to ensure installation intent is accurately reflected in models and drawings.
- Support project schedules by producing high-quality deliverables in a timely manner.
- Help improve modeling standards, workflows, and overall project efficiency.
- Mentor and support junior VDC specialists by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Assist in developing bills of materials, cut lists, fabrication reports, and other construction documentation.
- Stay current with evolving BIM technologies, software platforms, and industry best practices.
- Provide recommendations regarding software, hardware, and workflow improvements that enhance team performance and productivity.
What You BringRequired Qualifications
- Proficiency with:
- Autodesk Revit
- AutoCAD
- Autodesk Fabrication CADmep
- Autodesk Navisworks
- Strong understanding of BIM, VDC, and multi-trade coordination workflows.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC modeling, detailing, fabrication, or installation.
- Experience creating detailed fabrication and installation models for construction projects.
- Ability to interpret engineering and construction documents and translate design intent into constructible models.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with both office and field teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working for a mechanical contractor.
- Experience supporting fabrication and installation workflows.
- Knowledge of robotic total station layout processes.
- Experience mentoring or training junior BIM/VDC professionals.
- Familiarity with construction means, methods, and field installation practices.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $70.00/hr.
