What is a Remote Junior .NET Developer?

A Remote Junior .NET Developer is an entry-level software developer who works primarily with Microsoft's .NET framework to build and maintain applications, websites, or services. The 'remote' aspect means they perform their job duties from outside a traditional office setting, often from home or another remote location. Junior developers typically have less experience and work under the guidance of more senior team members, focusing on learning, bug fixes, and smaller coding tasks. Their responsibilities may include writing code, participating in code reviews, debugging, and collaborating with other team members virtually.

To thrive as a Remote Junior .NET Developer, you need a solid understanding of C#, .NET frameworks, and basic software development principles, typically supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with Visual Studio, Git, SQL databases, and cloud platforms like Azure, as well as any relevant Microsoft certifications, is highly valuable. Strong communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills help you collaborate effectively and manage tasks independently in a remote environment. These competencies ensure you can deliver quality code, adapt to evolving technologies, and contribute reliably to distributed development teams.

Scope of Work
The contractor will be responsible for executing assigned development and support tasks within an established architecture and delivery framework. Key responsibilities include:
• Application Development: Design, develop, enhance, and maintain .NET applications with a focus on security, performance, and scalability.
• Database Optimization: Implement and optimize Oracle database components, including complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Transaction Systems: Develop and support secure transaction and payment processing systems, ensuring adherence to PCI DSS and other compliance standards.
• Secure Data Practices: Apply secure coding practices for handling PII and PCI-regulated data in accordance with organizational and industry requirements.
• CI/CD Integration: Contribute to CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and repeatable software delivery.
• Observability Tools: Implement and maintain observability tooling to monitor application health, performance, and reliability.
• Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve production and non-production issues across application, database, and transaction layers.
• Technical Documentation: Produce technical documentation to support maintainability, knowledge transfer, and compliance needs.
• Independent QA Testing: Perform your own QA and regression testing to ensure the quality and reliability of developed software, including creating and maintaining test cases. Familiarity with Java-based testing frameworks is a plus.
Required Technical Qualifications
• .NET Expertise: Advanced, hands-on experience with .NET technologies (C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core) in enterprise or regulated environments.
• Oracle Proficiency: Strong proficiency with Oracle databases, including developing and optimizing complex queries.
• Transaction Processing: Demonstrated experience with transaction processing and payment systems.
• Secure Data Handling: Practical experience implementing secure data handling practices for PII and PCI-compliant systems.
• CI/CD Pipelines: Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Observability Tools: Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, New Relic, or similar.
• Independent QA Skills: Proven ability to independently perform QA and regression testing, ensuring all code meets quality and performance standards before deployment.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with attention to detail.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical progress, risks, and dependencies.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Experience
• Java Knowledge: Familiarity with Java, particularly in QA or regression testing environments.
• Legacy Perl Systems: Experience maintaining or scripting against legacy Perl systems.
• Cloud Platforms: Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Agile and DevOps: Knowledge of Agile delivery, DevOps practices, and microservices architecture.
Contractor Expectations
• Quick Onboarding: Ability to ramp up quickly in an existing codebase and domain.
• Independent Delivery: Operate with minimal supervision, delivering work aligned to defined technical requirements.
• End-to-End Quality: Take ownership of the quality of your work by performing thorough QA and regression testing.
• Clear Communication: Proactively communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to technical stakeholders.
• Compliance Standards: Adhere to security, compliance, and documentation standards throughout the engagement.
