Job Description

The International Admission Recruiter will primarily be responsible for the recruitment, relationship-building, and undergraduate application review for prospective international students applying to both undergraduate and professionally-oriented graduate programs. This role serves as an ambassador for the university abroad, representing Virginia Tech at international recruitment events, cultivating strategic partnerships with high schools, universities, and educational advisors, and evaluating international credentials as part of a holistic undergraduate admission review process. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Undergraduate Admissions and working closely with Enrollment Management leadership, the International Admissions Recruiter will develop strategic, innovative international recruitment plans aimed at increasing Virginia Tech's international student enrollment.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with cross-cultural competency, prior experience in international education or international admissions, and a willingness to travel extensively - often for extended periods and across multiple time zones. This position requires significant international travel (estimated 25-40% annually), including multi-week recruitment trips during peak fall and spring cycles. Domestic travel to conferences and professional development events may also be required. This is a remote role that will require frequent visits to Virginia Tech's main campus in Blacksburg, VA and Academic Building I in Alexandria, VA.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
Several years of experience in international admissions, international education, recruitment, or a related student-facing higher education role.
Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Understanding of international education credentials and immigration.
Willingness and ability to travel internationally for extended periods, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Valid passport (or ability to obtain one) with no restrictions on international travel.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines, often across time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in higher education, international education, counseling, or a related field.
Proficiency in one or more additional languages.
Prior experience evaluating international academic credentials.
Experience recruiting for both undergraduate and graduate/professional programs.
Familiarity with Slate CRM or similar admission technology platforms.
Existing network of relationships with international high schools, counselors, or education agencies.
Experience living, studying, or working abroad.
