Overview

Associate Director - Join Lehigh University's Investment Team

Lehigh University seeks an experienced investment professional to serve as Associate Director, supporting our Chief Investment Officer in managing our substantial Long Term Portfolio, including endowment and operating assets that fuel our mission of academic excellence.

About the Opportunity

This senior-level position will support the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), who oversees the day-to-day implementation and monitoring of the Long Term Portfolio. The team is responsible for recommending asset allocation policy changes; selecting, monitoring, and terminating investment managers; identifying investment opportunities; measuring the performance of individual managers, asset classes, and the overall portfolio; reporting results to the Investment Committee; and meeting regularly with investment managers to review results, exposures, and portfolio activity.

Position Number: S80540

This position is a Grade: 13 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $190,000-$230,000. Candidates will be eligible to participate in the Investment Performance Incentive Program, aligned with both individual and portfolio results. Total compensation is meaningfully weighted toward incentive opportunity and is designed to be competitive with leading endowment and foundation investment offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide portfolio oversight across public equities, credit, hedge funds, private equity, and venture capital
  • Select, evaluate, and monitor external investment managers and passive positions
  • Source new investment managers and opportunities to enhance portfolio performance
  • Acquire and analyze data at asset class and individual position levels
  • Make recommendations for portfolio construction across all asset classes
  • Develop relationships with investment managers, intermediaries, and institutional peers
  • Expand Lehigh's brand recognition within the investment community
  • Attend manager meetings and industry events to build strategic networks
  • Contribute to total portfolio asset allocation discussions and analysis
  • Present materials and lead Investment Committee discussions
  • Manage team members including analysts, interns, and volunteers
  • Provide leadership and mentorship for professional development
  • Lead projects to improve internal processes and systems
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff across campus
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field
  • Five to eight years of related work experience
  • Experience sourcing investment managers, performing due diligence, and preparing written investment memoranda across multiple asset classes, including public equities, credit, hedge funds, private equity, and venture capital
  • Experience working in an investment role performing due diligence on investment strategies
  • Strong organizational, analytical & interpersonal skills
