Remote Intake Assessment information

What is a Remote Intake Assessment?

A Remote Intake Assessment is an initial evaluation conducted virtually, often by phone or video call, to gather key information about a client or patient. This process is commonly used in healthcare, counseling, or social services to determine the needs, background, and appropriate next steps for individuals seeking assistance. It allows organizations to efficiently screen and triage clients before providing further services, all without requiring in-person meetings. Remote Intake Assessments are especially valuable for improving accessibility and reducing wait times.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Remote Intake Assessment roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Remote Intake Assessment roles often encounter challenges such as establishing rapport with clients virtually, managing technology issues, and ensuring thorough data collection without face-to-face interaction. To address these, it’s important to use clear communication techniques, maintain a reliable internet connection, and leverage digital tools for documentation. Regular collaboration with team members and ongoing training in tele-assessment best practices can also help maintain high-quality service and client engagement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Intake Assessment Specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Intake Assessment Specialist, you need strong assessment, interviewing, and documentation skills, often supported by a background in social work, counseling, or healthcare. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic case management systems, and secure data handling is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal communication, empathy, and active listening help build rapport and accurately understand client needs. These competencies ensure accurate assessments, effective client engagement, and compliance with privacy regulations in a remote environment.

Job description

Mayo Clinic's Revenue Cycle is hiring a Solution Architect to shape the future of patient access. This role blends deep Epic front-end expertise with strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and strong cross-functional collaboration to deliver integrated solutions that streamline the patient experience and advance how Revenue Cycle operates.

What you'll do

  • Strategic Intake & Solutioning - Partner with operational leaders to capture the problems and outcomes they're trying to achieve, evaluate feasibility, and recommend the best path forward. You'll identify current and future feature capabilities aligned to our strategic objectives and ensure proposed solutions meaningfully support our priorities.
  • Technical Leadership & Design - Serve as a consultative architect who shapes the "what" and "why" of solutions rather than performing the build. You'll evaluate options across Epic, enterprise and departmental specialty systems, and vendor products - recommending the best-fit approach, participating in vendor evaluations, and partnering with build teams to bring designs to life.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Determine which Revenue Cycle enablement teams and partner areas are needed to deliver. Facilitate technical committees, build consensus, and gain institutional approvals.
  • Roadmap & Release Planning - Stay current on Epic releases, vendor assessments, and emerging AI workflows. Correlate operational roadmaps with upcoming technology to keep strategic initiatives on track.

What you'll bring

  •  A minimum of three Epic certifications, at least one of which is related to Patient Access/Front-end Revenue Cycle (Prelude, Referrals, Identity)Experience collaborating with MyChart or custom healthcare portal teams to advance the digital patient experience (portal-specific certification or build experience not required).
  • Proven ability to map end-to-end workflows across teams, systems, and process areas.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across operations, technology, analytics, automation, and education partners.
  • A data-driven, root-cause approach to problem solving and sustained process improvement.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities while keeping stakeholders aligned.
  • Active awareness of emerging technologies, AI-enabled capabilities, and regulatory changes affecting Revenue Cycle.
