This job requires strong knowledge of coding systems like ICD-10-CM/PCS and an understanding of healthcare regulations. Remote inpatient coders rely heavily on secure access to electronic health records and must maintain patient privacy and data security. Many employers require certification, such as from AHIMA or AAPC, and prior coding experience.
