Work EnvironmentRemote, client sites, or office-basedOn-site at buildings, HVAC units, or installation sites
Industry UsageDesign, consulting, troubleshooting, and advisingInstallation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting

The main difference is that Remote Hvac Consultants focus on advising, designing, and troubleshooting HVAC systems remotely or in a consulting capacity, while HVAC Technicians perform hands-on installation, maintenance, and repair work on-site. Both roles require relevant certifications, but their work environments and daily tasks differ significantly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote HVAC consultant?

To thrive as a Remote HVAC Consultant, you need a solid understanding of HVAC systems, troubleshooting, and design principles, typically supported by relevant certifications such as EPA 608 or NATE. Familiarity with remote diagnostics tools, building automation systems, and HVAC software like AutoCAD or Revit is essential. Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills help you effectively advise clients and collaborate with on-site technicians. These competencies ensure accurate remote support, efficient system operation, and high client satisfaction in a virtual consulting environment.

What is a remote HVAC consultant?

A Remote HVAC Consultant is a professional who provides expert advice and solutions for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems without being physically present at the client's location. They use digital tools, phone calls, video conferencing, and online platforms to assess issues, recommend energy-efficient solutions, troubleshoot problems, and assist with system design or upgrades. This role allows clients to receive specialized HVAC guidance regardless of their geographical location, making it convenient and cost-effective.

How do remote HVAC consultants typically collaborate with on-site teams to ensure successful project outcomes?

Remote HVAC Consultants frequently coordinate with on-site engineers, technicians, and project managers using video calls, digital project management tools, and detailed documentation. Clear communication is essential to bridge the gap between remote and in-person work, so consultants often provide virtual walkthroughs, annotated schematics, and step-by-step guidance to support on-site implementation. Building strong relationships and maintaining regular check-ins help ensure that recommendations are accurately followed and that any challenges are resolved promptly, ultimately leading to successful project delivery.

Job description

HVAC Sales Consultant & Trainer (Remote)
Full-Time | 100% Remote | $250K OTE (base + commission)
Get Out of the Field. Keep the Income. Multiply Your Impact.
You've been the top Comfort Advisor on the board. You've run the houses, closed the big tickets, and mastered the in-home sale. Now imagine doing what you do best without the windshield time, the callbacks, or the 7pm appointments.
We're an HVAC consulting firm that helps home service companies grow to 8 figures, and we're hiring a proven residential HVAC closer to consult with our clients and train their sales teams. All remote, all on Zoom.
What You'll Do
  • Consult with owners and sales managers of residential HVAC companies on their sales process, pricing, and operations
  • Train and coach Comfort Advisors and selling techs on in-home sales: discovery, presentation, frame control, and closing
  • Run live sales training sessions, role-plays, and call reviews over Zoom
  • Help clients build repeatable sales systems that lift close rates and average tickets
  • Work alongside a team of A-players who have built and scaled HVAC companies to 8 figures

Who You Are
  • A top-performing residential HVAC Comfort Advisor — you've sold units in the home and have the numbers to prove it
  • Deep knowledge of the residential HVAC business model: lead flow, tech-generated leads, pricing, install operations
  • Elite communication skills and strong frame control. You can hold a room of owners and closers
  • Extremely hardworking. You're wired to win and you want to be paid like it
  • Coachable, team-first, and hungry to be part of a fast-growing culture of A-players
  • Comfortable working fully remote and running high-energy sessions on Zoom

What You Get
  • $250K on-target earnings (base salary + commission) — top performers earn $200K–$300K+
  • 100% remote — no truck, no houses, no field work
  • A seat on a winning team that's growing fast
  • The chance to shape the sales culture of dozens of HVAC companies instead of one
