As a Senior Power System Engineer at EPE you will manage and lead power system projects, including leading other power system engineers, performing analyses, and communicating results to clients.


How you can make an impact:

  • Perform high level bulk power system studies using various power system software such as PSS/e, PSCAD, Aspen, and TARA.
  • Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
  • Interact with Clients to seek input and address their needs and concerns with respect to the project(s) under study.
  • Lead and teach electrical engineers in performing power system steady state, short circuit, and dynamic &transient stability analyses.
  • Perform advanced and specialized studies of the power grid, such as Sub-synchronous Resonance studies.
  • Develop mitigation plans for identified constraints and system issues.
  • Develop and review transmission planning study methodologies and processes.
  • Lead process improvement efforts to enhance efficiency.
  • Support business development activities.

Bring your passion, here what’s needed:

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Power Systems Engineer with hands-on experience working with steady-state and dynamic base cases
  • Solid understanding of power system basics, transient stability, and master in of-the-shelve software tools like PSS/E and TARA.
  • Knowledge of multiple power regions of the country and independent system operators such as PJM, MISO, NEISO, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ERCOT, NYISO
  • Proven team player skills with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters.
  • Strong technical/report writing skills.
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation under experience 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with a focus in Power Systems
  • SPP or Midwest MISO region experience
  • PSCAD or EMT study experience
