About the Role

Packaging Exchange is a national packaging and distribution company operating 25 locations across North America with a team of 400+.

We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist that can provide day-to-day Human Resources support and assist with the implementation, administration, and completion of HR programs, projects, and initiatives.

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities


General HR duties

Fully Support the HR Director & Company

  • ·Support the HR Director in the execution of strategic and operational human resources initiatives
  • Assist with the implementation, administration, and communication of HR policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Support employee relations matters, investigations, performance management, and compliance-related activities.


Leave Management and Regulatory Compliance

  • Administer and coordinate employee leave programs, including:
    • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
    • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations
    • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability programs
    • Personal leaves of absence and state-specific leave programs
  • Ensure timely documentation, employee communication, and compliance with federal, state, and company requirements.
  • Collaborate with managers and HR leadership to facilitate return-to-work processes and reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable laws and company policies

Employee Relations and HR Support

  • Provide exceptional, responsive HR support to employees and managers.
  • Serve as a resource for HR-related questions, policies, benefits, leave administration, and employee concerns.
  • Assist with conflict resolution, coaching, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Support onboarding, transfers, promotions, and offboarding activities.


HR Administration and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure HR processes are administered consistently and in accordance with company policies and employment laws.


Employee Communications

  • Create, coordinate, and distribute company-wide announcements, communications, and HR updates.
  • Support employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, and organizational communications.
  • Ensure messaging is clear, professional, timely, and aligned with company objectives.


General HR Duties

  • Support day-to-day HR operations across the organization.
  • Assist with policy development and implementation.
  • Participate in HR projects, training initiatives, and process improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with managers, organizational leaders, and cross-functional teams to support employee engagement and foster a positive employee experience.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, organize competing responsibilities, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong customer service mindset with a commitment to providing responsive, professional, and employee-focused support.
  • Proven ability to track tasks, manage workflows, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely completion of HR activities.
  • Proficiency in ADP, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and other software applications used for HR administration, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Working knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, FMLA, ADA, leave administration, disability programs, and related compliance requirements


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in manufacturing, distribution, packaging, or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations and employees across multiple states.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including prolonged computer use and occasional office movement
