Director of HR Job Description

Position Summary

Ghostwerks LLC is seeking an experienced, strategic, and people-focused Human Resources Director to lead the company's HR function in support of its growing government contracting, engineering, and consulting operations. This role is responsible for developing and executing human capital strategies that align workforce capabilities with business objectives, ensuring compliance with federal requirements, and fostering a high-performing, mission-driven workforce.

The HR Director will oversee all aspects of human resources, including talent acquisition, employee development, performance management, compliance, compensation, and organizational culture. This position plays a critical role in scaling the company's workforce while maintaining the core values of innovation, integrity, and service.

Key Responsibilities

Human Capital Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with Ghostwerks' business goals and growth objectives.
  • Advise leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent management.
  • Establish HR policies and procedures that support scalable operations and compliance.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for technical, engineering, and professional services roles.
  • Develop recruiting strategies to attract high-quality candidates in competitive government contracting markets.
  • Support onboarding processes to ensure successful employee integration and mission alignment.

Employee Development & Culture

  • Design and manage employee development programs, mentorship initiatives, and career progression frameworks.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support leadership development and coaching across the organization.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (including FAR/DFARS considerations where applicable).
  • Maintain HR documentation, policies, and records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution.

Compensation, Benefits & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage compensation structures aligned with market benchmarks and contract requirements.
  • Oversee benefits programs and vendor relationships.
  • Implement performance management systems that drive accountability and measurable outcomes.

HR Operations & Systems

  • Manage HR systems, records, and reporting processes.
  • Leverage tools such as Microsoft 365, Teams, and SharePoint for HR operations and collaboration.
  • Track workforce metrics and provide insights to leadership on retention, engagement, and performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8โ€“12 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles.
  • Experience supporting government contracting environments or regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, compliance requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with HR systems and Microsoft Office 365 tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).
  • Experience in a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) or small business growth environment.
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS, contract labor categories, and proposal staffing.
  • Experience supporting distributed or hybrid teams.
