Under the direction of the Senior Director, Analytics and WelbeHealth leaders, the Principal Data Analyst (Healthcare Economics) leads the charge to identify healthcare utilization trends that can lead to differential quality and cost outcomes in partnership with physician and operational leadership.

  • Directly influences healthcare quality and cost outcomes by identifying utilization trends, uncovering actionable insights, and partnering with physician, clinical, and operational leaders to drive data-informed decisions that improve participant care and organizational performance
  • Blends advanced healthcare economics expertise with consultative analytics, translating complex claims, utilization, and operational data into intuitive visualizations, meaningful business intelligence, and strategic recommendations that shape enterprise priorities

On the day-to-day, you will:

  • Monitor and identify healthcare utilization trends, partnering with stakeholders to address key levers to improve quality and cost outcomes with a focus on healthcare utilization, such as home care, transportation, specialist, and facilities
  • Use hands-on visualization and report development skills to create clear, concise, professional-grade reports that are visually pleasing and deliver an unmatched user experience
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify their data visualization and delivery needs, design report mockups, and iterate and co-create a final visual solution
  • Communicate effectively with business users, stakeholders, and leaders on how business and clinical logic is applied to information points to arrive at key KPIs and metrics, and how operational activities interlink to KPIs, OKRs, etc.
  • Create visual information delivery design reports that streamline how data is presented, delivered, and consumed for clinical and operational staff, stakeholders, and leaders
  • Build relationships and trust with business partners
  • Partner closely with the Business Information Management function to design business-facing semantic layers (data marts) and foundational information structures that feed into Power BI, in order to simplify data acquisition

Job requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in analytical discipline or relevant field; master's degree preferred
  • Actuarial certification is a strong plus
  • Minimum of five (5) years specializing in healthcare economics or actuarial-based analytics with hands-on experience with medical claims
  • Experience in HEDIS or similar quality measurement is a strong plus
  • Experience leveraging AI is a strong plus
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with business information architecture, business metric governance, metric cataloging, and data dictionaries
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in analytics leveraging SQL/Databricks, with a focus on converting business information into visualizations, reports, and business-facing information delivery solutions
