Description & Requirements
Maximus is currently hiring a Human Performance Advisor. The Human Performance Advisor (HPA) serves as the coordinating technical expert for Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF) Human Performance within units, groups, Component Commands, or Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs). This role plans, develops, and oversees human performance services across all five POTFF domains to support the readiness, performance, and well-being of Special Operations Forces (SOF) personnel and their families.
The HPA advises and consults with the Government representative to support evidence-based decision-making, justify program expenditures, and assess program effectiveness. An HPA should only be assigned when POTFF managerial and administrative responsibilities exceed 50% of the individual's daily duties for the labor category. The position must not be used solely for salary increases or retention unless the requirement and need for the HPA role are identified and quantified.
U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates must possess an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance as required for contract performance. This position is pending upon contract award.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the leadership with the day-to-day running of the core functional areas to ensure compliance with the prime contract, all subsequent amendments, program business rules, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Analyzes daily, weekly, and monthly reports for performance measurement and efficiencies
- Participates with project and executive management to establish strategic plans, objectives, initiatives, and work plans
- Assists the leadership in efforts to facilitate a functional, motivated, and cohesive project team
- Directly supervises and manages key Project staff as determined by the leadership
- Works with Project and executive management to develop, monitor and revise performance goals and objectives for the project and staff. Monitors achievement of those goals
- Provides direction to team members and resolves problems in a timely and professional manner
- Assists in the creation and implementation of innovative methodologies, process improvements and corrective action plans to continually streamline and improve project operations, outcomes, and quality.
- Develops, modifies, and executes project policies, ensuring all project team members comply
- Meets all standards established for this position as outlined in the corresponding annual performance criteria and bonus template for this position
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by Management
-Function within units or groups where a POTFF Program Manager is not available, or within larger units requiring a leadership position to manage multiple domains or labor categories under the POTFF Program Manager.
-Assist the POTFF Program Lead, Manager, or Coordinator, who serves as the Government representative, as required.
-Plan, develop, and synchronize technical training, guidance, programmatic recommendations, and policy recommendations.
-Design, implement, document, and provide direct daily oversight of human performance services using a methodical approach to support peak performance and reconditioning for SOF personnel.
-Provide ongoing, objective feedback to the POTFF lead and chain of command.
-Provide direct care services, when required, based on discipline-specific experience, not to exceed 20% full-time equivalent (FTE).
-Maintain a strong understanding of all POTFF domains to ensure cohesion across the program.
-Conduct inventories of Human Performance supplies and resources; assist with equipment and supply requisitions; coordinate preventive maintenance for POTFF and physical domain equipment; and recommend emerging equipment for purchase consideration.
-Oversee and advise on training and travel for contract personnel under the HPA's purview
Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in relevant field of study and 7+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current licensed therapist valid in the state of practice is required.
- Education and licensure requirements are based on program contract requirements and are outlined in job posting
-Master's degree from an accredited exercise science, health science, physical education-related discipline, or a degree in dietetics, physical therapy, or sports psychology.
Specialized experience in the same or similar work described.
-Minimum of five years of demonstrable accumulated experience, with continuous and sustained experience preferred, developing long- and short-range planning and coordinating sport- and/or mission-specific performance programs.
-Experience must show attributable results with individual athletes and groups of athletes at the NCAA collegiate, Olympic, professional sports, and/or SOF Operator levels in corresponding operational or athletic settings.
-Current certification in one of the following: Athletic Trainer Certified, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with at least two years of hands-on experience, Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC), Certified Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (CC-AASP), Registered Dietitian (RD), or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in long- and short-range planning and coordination of new functional training and nutrition programs.
-Demonstrated history of positive, attributable results from HPA work.
-Relevant experience in a collegiate and/or professional athletic environment.
-Experience conducting multi-domain programming, including lecture, multimedia, and hands-on training related to strength, conditioning, performance nutrition, and team dynamics.

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
