In a remote grant writing role, your job is to help research and write a proposal to get funding for a company or organization, usually a non-profit or research firm. As a remote grant writer, you may work from home to study potential donors and their requirements, use virtual office software to coordinate with other employees, and answer questions that arise during the fundraising process. Grant writers often talk with executives, team leaders, marketers, and other employees to help present a unified fundraising strategy. Some remote grant writers work exclusively for one company, while others work on a contract basis and support many different companies throughout the year.
| Aspect | Remote Grant Writing | Remote Fundraising Coordinator |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Role | Researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding | Planning and executing fundraising campaigns, events, and donor relations |
| Required Skills | Strong writing, research, and grant guidelines knowledge | Communication, event planning, and relationship management |
| Work Environment | Mostly independent, remote research and writing | Remote coordination with teams, donors, and events |
| Common Employers | Nonprofits, educational institutions, research organizations | Nonprofits, charities, community organizations |
While both roles often work remotely and serve nonprofit sectors, Remote Grant Writers focus on securing funding through proposal writing, whereas Remote Fundraising Coordinators manage broader fundraising efforts and donor engagement. Understanding these differences helps job seekers target their skills and career goals effectively.
