Non-Profit Senior Accountant (Contract – 1 Year)

Location: Remote (Must be able to attend occasional meetings in Washington, DC as needed)

Duration: 1-Year Contract

Pay: $35 – $40 / hour

We are partnering with a mission-driven organization seeking a Senior Accountant with Non-Profit industry experience for a year long contract.

Must-Haves:

  • 3+ years of Senior Accountant experience
  • Nonprofit accounting experience (MUST) 
  • Strong month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Experience with financial reporting
  • Background supporting audits
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Able to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating across teams

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end financial reports
  • Manage restricted funds and ensure compliance with grant and funding requirements
  • Support audit preparation and financial reporting
  • Process payroll entries, fixed asset activity, and accounts payable transactions
  • Develop and improve accounting processes and standard operating procedures
  • Partner with finance, HR, and program teams on special projects and reporting
  • Assist with compliance, internal controls, and documentation
