This full-time position involves remote work along with on-site engagement in Sacramento, California, primarily in an outpatient setting. This role is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility in your work schedule while requiring a proactive approach to engage with different community stakeholders. However, engagement in the field is vital, as you will accompany law enforcement during mental health assessments and interventions. • Provide short-term crisis counseling for non-violent patients experiencing mental health episodes, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
• Collaborate with law enforcement by accompanying them in real-time mental health responses, ensuring the safety of all parties involved.
• Train police personnel on effective de-escalation techniques and proper procedures for addressing mental health crises, aimed at reducing the use of force.
• Manage patient cases and coordinate with third-party entities, including the Department of Mental Health and various psychiatric facilities, to create a comprehensive care plan.
• Document and maintain accurate records of confidential patient interactions and treatment plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Communicate effectively with law enforcement, crisis stabilization units, medical staff, and psychiatrists to ensure continuity of care.
• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations in the field to assess the need for 5150/5585 involuntary detention applications when necessary.

In this role, you will focus on assisting arrestees and community members struggling with acute mental health crises. Your expertise will be crucial in stabilizing individuals during critical moments, guiding them towards appropriate mental health services, and facilitating smoother transitions into ongoing treatment. You will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable populations and addressing the intersection of mental health and law enforcement.

• Must hold a valid Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) credential.
• A Bachelor's Degree in psychology, sociology, or a related field; further education or specialized training in mental health is preferred.
• Proficiency in mental health crisis intervention with strong analytical and assessment skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including law enforcement and healthcare professionals.
• Demonstrated integrity, a strong work ethic, and the ability to handle stressful situations with calm efficiency.

• Previous experience in psychiatric settings or mental health crisis intervention is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with local and state mental health resources and agencies.
• Experience in training or working with law enforcement or community organizations focused on mental health awareness.

The salary for this full-time position ranges from USD 80,000 to USD 122,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
