How much do remote gear tester jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 29, 2026, the average hourly pay for remote gear tester in the United States is $18.29, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $16.35 and $19.95 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are remote gear testers?

Remote gear testers are individuals who evaluate and review outdoor or specialized equipment, such as camping gear, clothing, electronics, or sports gear, from a remote location rather than at a company facility. They typically receive products to test in real-world conditions and provide detailed feedback on performance, durability, and usability. This feedback helps manufacturers improve their products and informs consumers. Remote gear testers may work as freelancers, for review websites, or directly with gear companies. The position often requires relevant experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for outdoor activities or the specific type of gear being tested.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Gear Tester, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Gear Tester, you need hands-on experience with outdoor equipment, strong analytical skills, and typically a background in product testing or a related field. Familiarity with product evaluation software, reporting tools, and sometimes certifications in outdoor safety or technical gear use are important. Attention to detail, clear written communication, and reliability are essential soft skills for providing thorough and actionable feedback. These skills ensure that gear is accurately assessed, improvements are effectively communicated to manufacturers, and end-users receive reliable product information.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Gear Testers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Gear Testers often face challenges such as coordinating testing schedules around varying weather conditions, accessing diverse environments for thorough evaluations, and maintaining clear communication with product development teams. To overcome these, testers should develop strong time management skills, build a network of local contacts for access to different terrains, and utilize digital tools for detailed feedback and reporting. Regular virtual meetings and proactive updates can also help bridge distance and keep teams aligned.

What is the difference between Remote Gear Tester vs Remote Product Reviewer?

Job description

Direct Response Performance Marketer

About Us

Flightpath Golf is a fast-growing media-commerce brand redefining how golf products are marketed and sold online. We combine premium golf gear, high-converting content, and community-driven storytelling with aggressive direct response execution. We're scaling fast and looking for a performance marketer who lives and breathes ROAS, CPA, and conversion rate optimization.

The Role

We're looking for a Direct Response Performance Marketer who can build, launch, test, and scale paid campaigns that drive measurable revenue. This is not a brand awareness role. You'll be judged on results โ€” sales, cost per acquisition, return on ad spend, and contribution margin. You'll own the full funnel from ad creative strategy through landing page optimization to post-purchase flow performance.

You should be obsessed with testing, fluent in data, and comfortable producing high volumes of ad variations. You'll work directly with our creative team and founder to develop hooks, offers, and angles โ€” then put real dollars behind them and optimize relentlessly.

If you've scaled a DTC brand past seven figures in ad spend and can talk about winning control ads the way most people talk about sports, this is your role.

What You'll Do

Launch, manage, and scale paid acquisition campaigns across Meta, Google, YouTube, and TikTok with full P&L accountability. Build and test direct response ad creative โ€” writing hooks, scripts, and copy frameworks (PAS, AIDA, before/after, problem-agitate-solve) that drive clicks and conversions. Develop and optimize landing pages and advertorials using tools like Zipify, OneClick Upsell, or Pagefly โ€” treating every page as a conversion asset, not a brochure. Own email and SMS performance in coordination with our retention team, ensuring post-click flows maximize LTV and repeat purchase rate. Manage creative testing at volume โ€” new angles, new formats, new offers โ€” with structured test-and-learn cadences. Analyze campaign data daily and make real-time decisions on budget allocation, bid strategy, and creative rotation. Build and maintain dashboards tracking CAC, ROAS, AOV, LTV, and contribution margin by channel. Leverage AI tools to increase creative output velocity โ€” ad copy generation, thumbnail variations, script ideation, and audience research. Collaborate with our influencer and UGC pipeline to source and deploy creator-driven ad content. Identify and test new direct response channels including direct mail, podcast host-reads, CTV/OTT, and YouTube pre-roll.

Who You Are

You have 3+ years running paid direct response campaigns for a DTC or eCommerce brand with demonstrable results. You understand unit economics โ€” you think in terms of blended CAC, MER, and contribution margin, not just ROAS in a dashboard. You've personally managed six-figure-plus monthly ad budgets and scaled them profitably. You can write direct response copy or effectively brief a creative team with winning angles, hooks, and offers. You're deeply analytical but also creative โ€” you know that data tells you what's working and creative instinct tells you what to try next. You move fast, test constantly, and don't get emotionally attached to ads that aren't performing. You're comfortable with AI-assisted workflows and use tools like ChatGPT, Foreplay, Motion, or Triple Whale in your daily process. Bonus: You play golf โ€” or you're ready to become obsessed with the game.

Why Join Us

Work at the intersection of media, eCommerce, and sport with a brand that's building something different in the golf space. Own a real budget with real autonomy and direct access to the CEO. Shape the performance marketing engine from the ground up as we scale into new channels and product lines. Remote-first with high ownership, clear KPIs, and room to grow into a Head of Growth or VP of Marketing role. Potential for equity and long-term incentives for the right person.

To Apply

Send your resume, a short intro, and your best campaign case study โ€” include the numbers. Tell us about an ad you scaled, what made it work, and what you'd do differently. Bonus points if you tell us your favorite golf course or why you're ready to pick one up.

Donโ€™t meet all the requirements? Thatโ€™s okay. Hunger beats experience. We can tell you're serious about this opportunity because you read this until the end. And for that, you get ahead of the line of applicants. Follow these next steps:

  1. Send an email to hr@flightpathgolf.com with the subject line ZIPMARKETER.
  2. Include your resume and a short paragraph about yourself and your five-year goals.

Weโ€™ll review your application and schedule a Zoom interview if youโ€™re the right fit.

Join us and help build the most aggressive growth engine in golf.
