What is a remote front end?

A Remote Front End job involves developing and maintaining the user interface of websites or web applications while working from a remote location. Front-end developers use languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create responsive and visually appealing designs. They collaborate with designers, back-end developers, and other team members using online communication tools. Remote front-end roles require strong problem-solving skills, self-discipline, and the ability to work independently.

What skills and qualifications are needed for a remote front end?

To thrive as a Remote Front End professional, you need strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue, often backed by a degree or relevant certifications in web development or computer science. Experience with version control systems like Git, collaborative tools such as Jira, and familiarity with cross-browser testing platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and self-management skills help remote team members work independently and collaborate effectively across time zones. Together, these skills ensure high-quality, user-friendly interfaces and seamless teamwork in a distributed environment.

What are common challenges faced by remote front end professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Front End professionals often face challenges such as coordinating with distributed teams, staying aligned on project requirements, and managing time effectively without in-person supervision. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of new front-end technologies and best practices is also crucial. By staying organized, proactive, and collaborative, remote front-end developers can excel and contribute meaningfully to high-performing product teams.

Job Category

Position Summary
We are looking for a Senior Product Owner to drive execution across our digital platform teams. This is a hands-on role, not a stakeholder-management-only position: you will own the backlog, write genuinely technical user stories, and orchestrate work across Backend, Frontend, Integration (MuleSoft), and DevOps teams to turn business asks into shipped software.
You will lead projects and processes of diverse scope, working independently with limited supervision, and serve as the connective tissue between customers, business stakeholders, and distributed engineering teams.
Responsibilities
  • Translate business and customer requests into clear, actionable work for engineering - decomposing them into well-structured epics, features, and user stories in partnership with our Agile teams
  • Write technical and API-level user stories with the depth engineers need to build against; this is a core requirement of the role, not a nice-to-have
  • Own and drive backlog refinement, sprint planning inputs, and prioritization within an Agile framework
  • Coordinate delivery across a horizontally structured technical organization (Backend, Frontend, MuleSoft/Integrations, DevOps), managing cross-team dependencies and sequencing work so it lands in the right order
  • Drive execution day to day - unblocking teams, tracking progress, and holding the line on scope and quality
  • Coach and review the work of less experienced product professionals, raising the bar for story quality and product practices across the team
  • Support continuous improvement and automation initiatives across the delivery process
  • Apply advanced analytical and technical problem-solving to develop new solutions to existing problems and procedures
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through clear communication and effective negotiation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role on technical products, with demonstrated ability to write technical and API user stories
  • Experience working across horizontally structured engineering organizations (Backend, Frontend, integration platforms such as MuleSoft, and DevOps)
  • Strong track record working with remote and offshore development teams across time zones
  • Deep fluency in Agile practices, including backlog ownership, refinement, and story decomposition (epics features stories)
  • Ability to lead projects of diverse scope independently, with limited supervision
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with both technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Experience coaching or mentoring junior product or delivery professionals
  • Willingness to travel as needed, including internationally

Working Style

  • This role suits someone who is energized by execution: comfortable in the details of a dependency map, confident challenging a vague requirement, and happiest when a complex piece of cross-team work ships on time because they made it happen.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
