• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments of elderly residents to identify specific emotional and psychological care needs, utilizing evidence-based assessment tools.
• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions that target emotional challenges related to aging, including coping with loss and navigating significant life transitions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to create, implement, and monitor personalized care plans that address the unique mental health needs of each geriatric client.
• Educate families and staff on best practices and coping strategies to support the mental well-being of seniors, enhancing their overall quality of life.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for residents and their families, providing essential support during end-of-life issues.
• Design and implement cognitive stimulation and mental health intervention programs aimed at promoting mental acuity and emotional resilience in the elderly population.

The primary focus of this role is the geriatric population within our community health clinic. You will work with seniors experiencing a range of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, and adjustments to aging. Your expertise will not only provide crucial support to residents but will also involve engaging with family members, fostering a supportive environment that encourages healing and resilience.

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification in Florida.
• At least 4 years of recent, relevant experience in mental health counseling, specifically with geriatric clients.
• Specialized training in geriatric mental health or aging-related issues is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to deliver mental health counseling services effectively to elderly individuals navigating various mental health obstacles.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and empathy to build meaningful relationships with elderly clients and their families.
• Asolid understanding of legal and ethical considerations in geriatric mental health counseling.

• Experience in developing and leading group therapy sessions aimed at enhancing social interaction and emotional support among seniors.
• Familiarity with evidence-based interventions and programs specifically designed for elderly mental health.
• Competency in using telehealth platforms for teletherapy sessions and remote assessments.
