The Assistant Controller will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, including, but not limited to:

  • Operational Excellence - Lead the month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring all journal entries and accruals are posted with precision in NetSuite.
  • Compliance & Controls - Maintain and evolve the internal control environment to ensure strict SOX compliance and adherence to corporate policies. 
  • Tax & Regulatory - Work with external and internal teams in preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax filings, as well as registrations, and complex reporting requirements. 
  • Sales & Use Tax Management - Oversee the end-to-end sales tax compliance process, including monitoring economic nexus thresholds, filing sales tax returns, resolving state tax notices, handling complex sales tax inquiries, and overseeing the registration process. 
  • Audit Readiness - Lead the preparation for internal and external audits, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
  • Revenue Recognition - Assist in the review of customer contracts and ensure revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Process Improvement - Proactively identify inefficiencies in processes and implement automated solutions or workflow improvements. 

This is the perfect job for someone who has:

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting - Public accounting/Private industry mix is a plus.
  • B.S. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field - CPA a plus.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office products required, with advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, IF statements) a must!
  • Problem-solving abilities that look beyond the surface, and are able to dig into the root cause of problems, looking for the "why" and researching the solution. 
  • Proven ability to research accounting standards and complex issues and apply them to real-world scenarios. 
  • Ability to prioritize workload and successfully meet strict internal and external deadlines.

The base salary range for this position in the Burlington, Massachusetts area is $80,000 - $105,000, plus benefits including: medical, dental and vision insurance, 401K plan, potential equity, employee stock purchase plan and paid sick and parental leave. 

Individual compensation is based upon a number of factors, including qualifications and relevant experience.
