Assistant Financial Controller

Location: Beverly, MA 01915
Salary: $115,000–$140,000 + Bonus
Job Type: Permanent
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift | Exact hours TBD
Work Environment: 100% Onsite | Manufacturing


About the Role

A well-established manufacturing company in Beverly, MA is seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Controller to join its finance and accounting team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will play a key part in financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cost accounting, internal controls, compliance, and audit support.

This is a highly visible opportunity for an independent, proactive finance professional who is comfortable working across departments, managing multiple priorities, and providing leadership within a long-tenured accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, consolidate, and analyze monthly and quarterly financial statements for multiple entities
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Assist with capital expenditure planning and financial forecasting
  • Perform cost analysis and standard costing
  • Support general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls in accordance with COSO and GAAP
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and applicable accounting standards
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
  • Utilize ERP and financial reporting systems
  • Develop and analyze financial reports using advanced Excel and Power BI
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and efficiencies
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and oversight to accounting team members
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, HR, Operations, and other business leaders
  • Support long-term strategic planning and financial initiatives
  • Monitor changes in accounting regulations and ensure ongoing compliance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of accounting, senior accounting, or Assistant Controller experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and standard cost accounting
  • Leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
  • Strong Power BI experience
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and capital expenditures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
  • Independent, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative

Preferred:

  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • CPA
  • Master’s degree or MSA
  • SAP BPC or similar financial planning/reporting system experience
  • Experience with COSO and internal controls
  • Internal and external audit experience
  • ERP/MRP systems experience
  • Big Four accounting experience
