Job description

General Description:

Financial Aid Consultant responsibilities will vary based on contract with client. Responsibilities may include but not limited to interim director level support, processing financial aid including awarding, packaging and completing verification, conducting an onsite assessment providing a written summary report, interviewing client employees to understand job function and roles, reviewing policy and procedures, validating procedures for compliance. Consultant is required to deliver a high level of service to colleges and universities ensuring federal aid is processed in accordance with school, state and federal guidelines. FA Consultants are expected to maintain a clear and consistent open channel of communication with both internal and external clients.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (as applicable by assignment):
  • Package students within federal guidelines and send notification to students.
  • Process all steps of document review, originating, disbursing, notifying disbursements for federal funding
  • Work closely with clients to identify and address areas of improvement.
  • Research complex regulatory issues and provide responses.
  • Ensure appropriate documents are being requested based on regularly guidelines and ISIR reviews
  • Provide guidance for on compliant Policies and Procedures.
  • File, transmit, and prepare annual Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP).
  • Assist with system set up, implementation and testing.
  • Work with comptroller/Business Office to ensure accurate and timely exchange of information between operating systems.
  • Oversee reconciliation process.
  • Ensure Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is being tracked and applied accurately at client school.
  • Monitor processors to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Complete Verification, ISIR corrections, Professional Judgement and C-Code reviews
  • Calculate Return to Title IV calculations
  • Document and send required communications for award offers, disbursements, PWD, Exits
  • Communicate with clients and co-workers in written and verbal format
  • Maintain compliance in all areas of responsibility
  • Other Duties as assigned
Services:
  • Consultant agrees to perform and provide, on a โ€œper assignment and as needed basisโ€ as authorized by FA Solutions
  • Consultant will provide various technical and consulting services as assigned
  • Consultants may be assigned to one or more college clients as needed
  • There is no guarantee of work or amount of work that may be available
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree required
  • 10+ years financial aid experience
  • High level of analytical skills
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in a variety of financial aid management systems.
  • Experience processing federal funds in a variety of academic year structures
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Adaptability with strong organizational skills.
