Job Description:

The Remote Crewing Supervisor facilitates and manages all levels of below-the-line technical support and scheduling across ESPN and ESPNonABC remote events. The individual should possess expert-level understanding of technical, remote positions across diverse events: their functions, responsibilities, and necessary skills. The Supervisor will be required to maintain an extensive knowledge-base of assigned individuals across sport assignments, positions, and geographical locations, and demonstrate solid leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees Crewing Coordinators, providing guidance and day-to-day support to all team members.
  • Demonstrate involvement in the management of multiple crewing teams (PODS), and lead the planning and delegation of workload across packages/events.
  • Supervises and participates in the recruitment, selection, hiring and scheduling of technical crews on events, as well as Crewing Coordinators.
  • Facilitate in the planning of the SEC network launch.
  • Consistently communicate, and ensure teams adhere to, the show-level needs of a remote event. Manage the consistent distribution of Pre- and Post-Freelance Actualization Checklists across all designated sport teams in a timely fashion. Demonstrate leadership in structuring the budget parameters around all team assignments.
  • Demonstrate management of Crew Sheet and Technical Services Contract List (TSCL) distribution.
  • When applicable, consistently actualize (process payments) and/or ensure each Crewer under your supervision has actualized their minimum number of events across the performance year.
  • Consistently assist in tracking performance of personnel scheduled across all assigned event teams.
  • Function as a sub-level management liaison between the Crewing area and the Remote Operations Resource Team. Assist in sharing and communicating best practices. Includes, but not limited to, Technical Services Contract Lists (TSCLs), Vendor relations, and Disney Worldwide Shared Services (DWSS) communications.
  • Ensures that appropriate timelines are met around crewing needs for events and/or projects.
  • Is dedicated to the continued growth and development of individuals and corresponding staff reports.
  • Attends industry events as it relates to the position.
  • In all of these responsibilities, positively and professionally represent the brand and model of the ESPN Crewing Department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Typically, incumbent has minimum of 5-10 years of industry related experience.
  • Has in-depth awareness of company systems.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of organization, procurement, financial and logistical skills relating to Remote Operations.
  • Work is reviewed from a long-term and short-term perspective against defined objectives, budgets and schedules.
  • Manages the standards that may impact the accuracy, cost, and timeliness of the events.
  • Operates within the defined goals of the Remote Operations department.
  • Supervises all aspects of support needs for success of the events.
  • Maintains a communication flow with the managers on new developments or procedures that may affect their event or processes.
  • Basic computer experience, with a proficiency in Windows based PC applications such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has and applies an advanced knowledge of the requirements of ESPN's remote operations functions.
  • Possesses previous management experience, either through assigned title or previous leadership role.
  • Previous knowledge of NCS, SAP, and/or ESPN Playbook systems.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Position requires ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

The hiring range for this position in Bristol, CT is $87,100 to $116,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
