Job description

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking an EHR Systems Analyst to support the Clinical Access Revenue System department, which focuses on optimizing electronic health record workflows, revenue cycle processes, and system functionality to improve patient access and operational performance. The EHR Systems Analyst serves as a primary support contact, bridging end users and the EHR Team while ensuring system solutions align with clinical and business needs.
The EHR Systems Analyst at UT MD Anderson develops and maintains deep expertise in Epic, collaborates with clinical and business stakeholders, and contributes to the design, implementation, and ongoing support of system enhancements. UT MD Anderson is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The EHR Systems Analyst plays a critical role in supporting high-quality, data-driven care through effective system configuration and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate for the EHR Systems Analyst role brings a bachelor's degree with preferred experience in professional billing, coding, claims, and project management. Certified in Epic Resolute Professional Billing. This individual demonstrates strong analytical capabilities, effective communication and facilitation skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams while maintaining a focus on system optimization and patient safety.

Responsibilities
Standards & Testing
• Obtain Epic certification within 180 days of hire and maintain required certifications
• Adhere to standard operating procedures and maintain build and testing standards with SME or governance signoff
• Follow IS division best practices and institutional policies, procedures, and standards
• Prepare documentation for implementation of enhancements or new technology
• Follow documented change control processes
• Perform quality control and testing to ensure solutions are technically sound
Build, Content Management, & System Configuration
• Implement and prioritize requested system changes or projects in a timely manner
• Maintain and troubleshoot EHR system build
• Modify Epic content based on project team direction
• Participate in implementation and optimization efforts with appropriate approvals
• Analyze system configurations with a focus on patient safety
• Perform medium-risk or moderately complex system maintenance
• Complete routine revisions to meet build metrics
• Provide functional expertise with clinical workflow understanding
• Provide technical expertise in system design and development
Support
• Provide customer support and resolve technical and workflow issues
• Respond to requests promptly while communicating expectations and timelines
• Participate in after-hours application support and downtime procedures
• Develop knowledge of assigned applications to improve troubleshooting

EDUCATION

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 2 years Clinical, relevant healthcare information technology, or relevant business experience.
  • May substitute required education with years of related experience on a one to one basis.
  • Preferred: At least 3 years experience in professional billing, professional coding, professional billing claims, project management, strong analytical skills, good facilitation, inter-team and customer communication and organization skills.

  • Required: EPIC - EPIC Certification within 180 Days
