Role Summary

The Dayforce Technical Application Owner serves as the technical leader and subject matter expert for a critical Human Capital Management (HCM) platform, with primary responsibility for Payroll, Timekeeping, and Scheduling capabilities. This role will drive system strategy, technical configuration, integrations, operational stability, and continuous improvement initiatives while partnering closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, Operations, and IT teams. The successful candidate will combine hands-on system expertise with strong business acumen to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient workforce management processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own the technical configuration and administration of Payroll, Timekeeping, and Scheduling modules, including pay rules, work rules, accrual policies, entitlement rules, and scheduling configurations.
  • Develop and execute the platform roadmap, including automation initiatives, process improvements, system enhancements, and adoption of new capabilities.
  • Design and maintain scalable workflows, security models, organizational structures, approval processes, and compensation-related configurations.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and support of integrations with HR, Finance, Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, Banking, Tax, and business intelligence systems.
  • Manage API, file-based, middleware, and data exchange integrations, ensuring reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Support integration and reconciliation activities across multiple HCM platforms, including Workday-related environments where applicable.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for payroll processing issues, timekeeping discrepancies, interface failures, and scheduling challenges.
  • Monitor system performance, integrations, automated jobs, and data quality processes while resolving technical issues and coordinating vendor support.
  • Lead system upgrades, releases, patches, regression testing efforts, and change management activities.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, tax requirements, labor policies, security standards, and data governance requirements.
  • Maintain system architecture documentation, configuration standards, integration diagrams, operational runbooks, and technical procedures.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and vendors to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions and long-term platform strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Workday HCM, Payroll, and/or Time Tracking modules.
  • Experience translating business requirements into system configurations, technical specifications, and implementation plans.
  • Demonstrated experience managing system upgrades, releases, testing cycles, and change management processes.
  • Knowledge of payroll compliance requirements, labor regulations, and multi-jurisdiction payroll considerations.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Dayforce certifications in Payroll, Workforce Management, Implementation, or related areas.
  • Experience supporting environments that utilize both Dayforce and Workday platforms.
  • Background supporting large, multi-state, multi-entity, or unionized workforce environments.
  • Experience designing and administering role-based security frameworks, access controls, and audit processes.
  • Familiarity with integration platforms such as Workato, Boomi, MuleSoft, or similar middleware solutions.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, reporting tools, and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience with ITIL, Agile, enterprise applications, or technology governance frameworks.
  • Proven success leading HCM platform optimization, modernization, or migration initiatives.
