Group Benefits Technology team is seeking a highly motivated and skilled developer to be a part of a team of software engineers supporting the Electronic Commerce Processing, Internal Web Platforms, and Cashback applications within Nationwide Specialty Insurance. You'll help stabilize and simplify critical NSI flows while advancing our move from Perl to Python and improving data quality and speed for our business partners.

This hybrid position may be based in Columbus, OH or Des Moines, IA. Candidates located near a Nationwide campus will collaborate in office 2 days per week. Current Nationwide Remote Associates may also be considered.

Primary responsibilities

  • Provide production support (triage, root cause, remediation) and drive prevention through fixes, tests, and documentation.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
