Job description

Title:

Technical Writer (Fed Civ)

KBR is seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Writer with a strong background in developing and writing Federal Civilian (Fed Civ) proposals. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in working with Solution Architects and Subject Matter Experts to develop and deliver compelling proposal narratives. A technically adept individual, able to draft technical narratives from interviews with SMEs, will be ideal for this role.

Candidate will be responsible for the development and curation of technical content, leveraging information gathered via multiple methods (interviews, research, content review) and turning it into compelling and compliant proposal content. The role requires the ability to extract solution and win theme information from Capture Teams, SMEs, and Solution Architects, as well as leverage new AI technology to draft content. The candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of technological concepts necessary to draft content for technical approaches, management plans, and past performance in the areas of data analytics, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, engineering, technical operations, human performance/medical, or supply chain and sustainment.

This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Proposal Operations.

The successful candidate should have a keen understanding of the needs of the Fed Civ market, ensuring that all proposal content aligns with KBR's strategic goals and objectives. Able to collaborate effectively with business development teams to identify key priorities and incorporate them into the proposal narratives, ultimately contributing to the growth and success of KBR's Fed Civ sector.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Interview Program Managers, Subject Matter Experts, and Solution Architects to draft technical proposal content that is compelling and compliant to the solicitation requirements.
  • Ability to harvest win themes and key discriminators to develop and articulate compelling proposal content that reflects an understanding of the customer's needs and the KBR's solution strategy
  • Broad depth and understanding of proposal requirements combined with technical acumen to successfully storyboard and write sections such as Technical Approach, Management Approach, Transition Approach, Risk Management Plans, Quality Control Plans, Executive Summaries, etc.
  • Ability to incorporate comments gathered from storyboard reviews, pink teams, red teams, and gold teams to deliver compelling and compliant content under tight deadlines
  • Ability to articulate the "How" and the "Why" from the "What"
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, analyze, and synthesize information from various sources.
  • Attend capture, solution, and proposal meetings to ensure complete understanding of opportunity and ability to tailor proposal messaging
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to prioritize responsibilities to meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to work with geographically dispersed, virtual teams.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a technical field 10+ years professional work experience. Flexible on Degree and years' experience if candidate has technical certifications and/or proven Fed Civ technical/proposal writing experience.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with ability to assess and digest vast amounts of information to develop tailored proposal content under tight deadlines
  • Technical background and/or proficient understanding in a technical field such as data analytics, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, engineering, technical operations, human performance/medical, or supply chain and sustainment.
  • Experience writing narratives for Fed Civ IT/Cybersecurity/ Engineering/Operationssolutions and pursuits.
  • Experience with Fed Civ agencies

PREFERRED/DESIRED SKILLS

  • Experience with Shipley proposal development methodology.
  • Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) or similar certification.

Basic Compensation:

$94.7K - $142K

The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, and in consideration of internal parity
