Job description

At Commure, we're building the AI Operating System for healthcare, the foundation that defines how care is delivered, documented, and financed. Our platform spans the full care journey: Ambient AI and Dictation eliminating documentation burden at the point of care, intelligent Agents automating patient and revenue workflows, and autonomous RCM processing billions in claims, all on a single AI-native platform integrated with 60+ EHRs.

Healthcare carries a $1 trillion administrative burden and we're at the center of transforming it. Today, 500,000+ clinicians across 500+ healthcare organizations nationwide trust Commure to handle $25B+ in annual claims and support over 200 million patient interactions. Our latest $70M raise at a $7B valuation reflects the confidence the market has placed in this mission. We've also been named to the Fortune Future 50 list and the 2026 AI Breakthrough Awards for “Overall NLP Company of the Year.”

Our team works directly alongside clinicians, not through layers of process, which means the gap between what you build and its impact on patient care is immediate. We move fast, deploy daily, and take full ownership from early thinking to production. If you're energized by hard problems, high stakes, and a team that holds itself to a high bar, you'll find your people here.

The future of healthcare is being built right now. Come deliver this transformation.

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager who will lead the RCM Core Backend Team at Commure, the team responsible for building and maintaining the critical infrastructure that powers our entire Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) product. Our systems handle hundreds of millions of dollars in claims a year, freeing healthcare providers from tedious processes and allowing them to just be a doctor. We accomplish this with robust integrations, fault-tolerant data pipelines, and a swath of clever automations.

In this role, you will work with a high-performance team to drive product-wide initiatives, scale mission-critical backend services, and build new automations, all while ensuring system reliability, performance, and correctness. You’ll help manage both responsibilities of our team: supporting the RCM Product team to build customer-facing features on top of our solutions, as well as working with the Operations team to deliver and maintain novel automations that enable our business to scale with increasing efficiency. You'll also foster a culture of high ownership and engineering excellence, helping grow a team that thrives on solving complex, real-world problems at scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and grow a team of 8+ engineers, ensuring clarity of purpose, healthy execution, and strong collaboration

  • Maintain the team’s startup mindset as we grow, excelling in fast-paced environments where priorities and objectives can shift

  • Own the technical execution and delivery of major backend systems and automation platforms that power our RCM products, ensuring they scale alongside the company

  • Partner closely with Product, Ops, and cross-functional teams to build backend services that solve high-value business problems, filling in gaps as necessary

  • Manage project and resource prioritization, ensuring the team works on the most important work streams with the right level of urgency and technical rigor

  • Uphold high standards in system design, code quality, and engineering operations, fostering a culture of reliability and ownership

  • Coach and develop engineers, supporting career growth, technical excellence, and a high-performing culture

What You Have

  • 6+ years of experience developing software, with a background in shipping products in a fast-paced, rapidly scaling environment

  • 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including mentoring, performance reviews, and fostering a culture of growth and collaboration

  • A strong foundation as an individual contributor, with the ability to roll up your sleeves, dive into the codebase, and problem-solve directly alongside the team when needed

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate strongly with cross-functional teams and effectively present technical concepts to leadership

  • A passion for healthcare innovation and making a meaningful impact on patient care

  • Experience managing and scaling teams of 8+ engineers, ideally with sub-team leads or tech leads reporting to you

  • Proven ability to deliver platform-scale systems that are reliable, maintainable, and scalable

  • Proven experience as a technical leader with the ability to make key architectural and strategic decisions that influence the overall product direction

  • Strong technical background with expertise in modern backend development (e.g., Python, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes) to build broad, event-driven platforms

  • Proven ability to manage resource allocation, ensuring that projects are completed on time and with the right level of technical rigor
