What are remote endurance sports?

Remote endurance sports are athletic activities such as running, cycling, or triathlons that participants complete independently in their own chosen locations, rather than at a centralized event. These events often use digital platforms or apps to track participants' performance, allowing athletes to compete virtually with others around the world. This format offers flexibility, accessibility, and the ability to participate regardless of geographic location or scheduling constraints.

What are some common challenges faced by remote endurance sports coaches, and how can they be addressed?

Remote endurance sports coaches often face the challenge of maintaining strong communication and accountability with athletes who are training independently. To address this, many coaches use specialized training platforms, regular video check-ins, and detailed feedback on workouts to foster engagement and progress. Building a sense of community among athletes through group chats or virtual meetups can also help mitigate feelings of isolation. Staying organized and responsive is key for coaches to effectively monitor progress and adjust training plans as needed.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote endurance sports coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Endurance Sports Coach, you need a solid background in exercise science, endurance training principles, and often a relevant coaching certification (such as USAT or IRONMAN). Familiarity with digital coaching platforms, fitness tracking apps, and data analysis tools is important for remote program delivery. Strong communication, motivation, and adaptability help coaches build trust and keep athletes engaged from a distance. These skills ensure effective training, athlete progress, and high client satisfaction in a virtual coaching environment.

About the Role

Outside, Inc. is seeking an Activation & Content Coordinator to represent our tour sponsors and partners, as well as Outside, Outside+, and Warren Miller Entertainment (WME), while on the road during the annual Warren Miller Film Tour. Warren Miller Entertainment is one of the largest, most established, and successful action sports film companies today, with more than 76 years of snow sports filmmaking experience. Moving beyond a passive event model, this role acts as a premium on-the-road content creator and experiential activator, executing custom localized sponsor integrations and capturing high-impact media that drives fan engagement. As an Activation & Content Coordinator, you will serve as a primary contact for tour sponsors on the road, ensuring exceptional experiences for patrons and partners while maximizing brand exposure. This is a hands-on crew role requiring active participation as part of a mobile 4-person crew (alongside the Road Manager, Projectionist, and Emcee) over a 5–7 week schedule.

Note: This role is fully mobile with constant travel required and includes sharing lodging/accommodations with another member of the crew.

Basic Responsibilities Sponsor Activation & Crowd Engagement
  • Sponsor & Brand Representation: Serve as the primary representative for tour sponsors, Outside Interactive, WME, and Outside+. Liaise daily with Outside's Client Success team and sponsor contacts prior to events to confirm scheduling, requirements, and activation needs.
  • Lobby Setup & Activations: Lead the physical setup of partner promotional footprints and display materials in venue lobbies, creating an engaging and visually appealing lobby experience for patrons.
  • High-Energy Engagement: Deliver a welcoming, high-energy experience for attendees before, during, and after screenings, driving traffic directly to sponsor booths and answering customer questions.
  • Program Advocacy: Stay highly knowledgeable about sponsor products and internal digital programs to drive enrollments in programs like Outside+.
  • Stage & Onscreen Alignment: Double-check the delivery of the correct pre-show onscreen display to the Projectionist, and liaise directly with the Emcee regarding regional and local sponsor lists to ensure accurate nightly verbal call-outs.
Media Creation & Content Strategy
  • Capture Event Media: Shoot high-quality photo and video content at each event highlighting live attendee experiences, interactive crowd moments, and custom sponsor activations.
  • Sponsor Deliverables & Content Strategy: Review brand contracts and explicit deliverables with the Fulfillment Team; execute structured content plans for live show nights as well as travel/lifestyle days.
  • On-the-Fly Editing & Social Publishing: Utilize mobile tools to capture engaging photo dumps and short-form vertical video assets (Reels, TikToks) reflecting the WME brand voice.
  • Daily Reporting & Media Delivery: Submit daily photo/video dumps back to HQ for immediate social publishing, and maintain daily activation logs to track sponsor fulfillment.
Pre-Show Setup & Physical Operations
  • Active Crew Collaboration: Work closely within the 4-person road crew (Road Manager, Projectionist, Emcee, Activation & Content Coordinator) to ensure smooth, efficient, and professional nightly operations.
  • Heavy Event Setup & Equipment: Assist with the physical setup, teardown, lifting, and transportation of tour gear, staging, promotional assets, and lobby displays (must be able to lift more than 50 lbs regularly).
  • Screen Construction: Collaborate with all 4 crew members to set up equipment at each venue, including hands-on construction and assembly of the projection screen when required.
  • Vehicle Displays & Inventory Management: Coordinate outside vehicle/trailer displays to ensure clean presentation, and securely pack, transport, and safeguard all partner materials and inventory throughout the tour.
Administrative & Feedback
  • Complete required daily reports tracking sponsor activations and audience feedback for every event.
  • Provide a comprehensive post-tour recap to optimize future WME tours and sponsor activations for maximum efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Communication & Demeanor: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a confident, welcoming, and professional demeanor.
  • Content & Photography Skills: Experience with mobile photography, videography, and short-form video content creation across modern platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
  • Detail-Oriented & Organized: Meticulous attention to detail for managing event setups, tracking sponsor deliverables, and handling complex logistics independently.
  • Driving Requirement: Safe, clean driving record with the ability to drive large tour vehicles in all weather conditions and high-traffic scenarios.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to lift and move equipment weighing more than 50 lbs regularly.
  • Relevant Experience: Background in brand representation, event coordination, or live event production preferred.
  • Self-Motivated & Flexible: Ability to work independently, adapt to fluid event environments, and maintain high energy throughout the tour.
  • Industry Passion: Genuine appreciation, familiarity, and passion for outdoor recreation, winter sports, and Warren Miller Entertainment.
