Job description

Brophy is accepting applications for a head men’s rugby coach starting Fall 2026. 

Job Title: Varsity Rugby Head Coach

Job Status: Part Time, stipend, seasonal, not benefits eligible

Hours: Flexible depending on games and practices typically held in afternoon/evenings, includes weekend availability

Overview:
Brophy College Preparatory is seeking a dedicated and experienced Rugby Coach to establish and lead the program. The coach will be responsible for developing student-athletes, fostering teamwork, and promoting a competitive and positive environment that is consistent with Brophy’s Jesuit principles and mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead all team practices, training sessions, and competitions
  • Develop athletes’ skills, rugby IQ, strategy, and overall performance
  • Foster a positive and disciplined team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, accountability, and personal growth
  • Coordinate schedules, transportation, and logistics with the athletic department
  • Ensure player safety and adherence to Arizona Rugby Union, USA Rugby, and school policies
  • Interface with parents, school administration, and students to communicate team expectations and uphold program standards
  • Assist in building and growing a sustainable rugby program that reflects the values of Brophy Athletics

Compensation: 

  • This is a stipended position paid during the length of the season

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years coaching experience in rugby (high school, club, collegiate or higher preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of rugby laws, player development, and current coaching techniques
  • Coaching philosophy grounded in a whole-student approach
  • Possesses the drive and motivation necessary to develop and implement a successful program
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop student-athletes
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • USA Rugby coaching certification (or willingness to obtain certification)
