Stipend: Stipends are paid in accordance with the Teacher Labor Agreement, Appendix C.
About the Position
Irondale High School is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Diving Coach to work with our girls swimming program. We are looking for a coach who is passionate about athlete development, safety, and building a positive team culture. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge of diving, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with the head coach and coaching staff.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized coaching to girls divers from beginner to advanced levels.
  • Teach proper technique, progressions, and safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement structured practice plans aligned with program goals.
  • Assist in meet preparation, warm-ups, event entries, and competition day management.
  • Maintain equipment, ensure safe practice environments, and follow all district and MSHSL rules (or your state association).
  • Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and the swimming and diving coaching staff.
  • Promote a culture of hard work, positivity, improvement, and inclusivity.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Previous experience in swimming and diving either as a coach or athlete.
  • Ability to work effectively with middle and high school students.
  • Strong understanding of pole vault safety and technique.

Preferred:
  • Prior coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Valid coaching certifications (WSI, life guard certifications, or willingness to obtain).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.

Schedule
  • After-school practices during the fall season (August November).
  • Attendance at weekday and weekend meets as scheduled.
