Job Description Summary

Hunt Electric is adding a Senior Buyer with construction and/or electrical supplies/materials knowledge due to company growth. The Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, services, vendor terms, prices, and equipment for large and hyperscale projects nationwide. They'll develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders, developing purchasing strategies for electrical construction projects while staying ahead of supply chain challenges.
*This role is offered as fully remote with occasional travel to job sites, but application materials must show industry experience. Candidates local to the Twin Cities market have an expectation of hybrid work.*

Job Description:

Role & Responsibilities

  • Works to support and collaborate with marketing, preconstruction, project management, special services, warehouse and operations.

  • Provides material procurement strategies and is involved in the execution of request for quotation's (RFQ's) for project buy outs, reviews and selections.

  • Negotiates best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements at the direction of the VP of Purchasing.

  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of work.

  • Prepares purchase order data entry, transmits new purchase orders and contacts vendors regarding discrepancies.

  • Manages purchase order and change order input and closures.

  • Acts as a conduit to vendor resources and support.

  • Uses knowledge of product, work planning and procedures to support project needs.

  • Communicates proactively to address and solve issues as they arise.

  • Performs administrative tasks to support subcontractor hires.

  • Performs sales tax administration to vendors and helps maintain internal filing system.

  • Performs set up of new vendors and helps maintain vendor files.

  • Adheres to purchasing and inventory policies, processes and procedures.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent

  • 5+ years' experience in inventory management, vendor relations, purchasing, distribution, or related experience.

  • Knowledge of construction and/or electrical industry, equipment, supplies and materials.

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred.

  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form.

  • Ability to negotiate decisions in a timely manner while juggling many priorities and meeting deadlines.

  • Adaptable to changing priorities and demonstrate a flexible and collaborative work style.

  • Ability to analyze information and make strategic decisions based on department objectives.

  • Excellent customer service, problem-solving and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated success in working with immediate team members and other departments to build effective relationships.

Physical Requirements

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.

  • Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl.

  • This position requires the ability to lift files, open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.

  • This position may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
