They collaborate with editors, writers, and photographers to ensure that the visual presentation supports the publication's content and tone. Their work includes arranging text, images, and graphics, often using design software, and adhering to brand guidelines. Remote Editorial Designers need strong communication skills to work effectively with teams across different locations and time zones. This role is ideal for creative individuals who are comfortable with digital collaboration tools and can manage deadlines independently.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote editorial designer?

Excellent communication, time management, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration and meeting editorial deadlines. These abilities ensure visually compelling, accurate, and timely editorial content that aligns with brand and publication standards in a distributed work environment.

How does a remote editorial designer collaborate effectively with writers and editors despite working offsite?

Remote Editorial Designers typically use digital collaboration tools like Slack, Trello, and Zoom to maintain clear communication with writers and editors. Job description

We are building AI to simulate the world through merging art and science.
We believe that world models are at the frontier of progress in artificial intelligence. Language models alone won't solve the world's hardest problems - robotics, disease, scientific discovery. Real progress requires models that experience the world and learn from their mistakes, the same way that humans do. And this kind of trial and error can be massively accelerated when done in simulation, rather than in the real world.
World models offer the most clear path to general-purpose simulation, changing how stories are told, how scientific progress is made and how the next frontiers of humanity are reached.
Our team consists of creative, open minded, caring and ambitious people who are determined to change the world. We aspire to continuously build impossible things and our ability to do so relies on building an incredible team. If you are driven to do the same, we'd love to hear from you.
About the role
*Open to hiring remote across the US - we also have offices in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Paris, and Tel Aviv.
We're looking for a Designer, Growth (Product Marketing) to sit at the intersection of brand, performance marketing, and generative media. This is not a brand systems or campaign concepting role - it's a high-volume, output-driven design role. You'll own the visual execution of paid and performance marketing across video, motion, and static formats, producing assets that are on-brand, well art directed and built to convert. You'll report to the Creative Director of Product Marketing.
Your work will directly shape how people first encounter and engage with Runway's products. That means producing scroll-stopping video ads, designing static and animated assets for paid social and display, and using generative tools - including Runway's own - as a core part of how you work. You'll partner closely with product marketing, growth, and copy teams, and you'll be measured on craft, throughput, and performance.
What you'll do
  • Design and produce high volumes of performance marketing assets across video, motion, and static formats - paid social, display, YouTube and beyond
  • Use Runway to ideate, create and iterate on video and image assets that are on-brand and well art directed - not just technically functional
  • Own the visual execution of ad creative from concept through final delivery, working from briefs or generating your own directions when needed
  • Produce motion graphics and animated ads that communicate product value quickly and compellingly
  • Partner with the Copywriter, Product Marketing and growth team to develop integrated ad concepts where copy and design work together
  • Build and iterate on creative variants for A/B and multivariate testing - adapting formats, hooks and visual treatments based on performance data
  • Maintain a consistent visual language across all performance touchpoints without letting assets feel templated or stale
  • Collaborate with product marketing on go-to-market launches, translating new product capabilities into visual stories that resonate with target audiences
  • Hands-on experience designing for the major paid channels (Meta, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc) with fluency in each platform's native specs, aspect ratios and ad formats, and a real point of view on what works where.
  • Own updates to GTM assets and templates, keeping them current and on-brand across campaigns. Bring hands-on experience building and automating deck design systems, so our presentations stay consistent without manual rework each time.
  • Contribute to a growing library of on-brand design components, motion templates and generative prompting strategies that raise the team's overall output velocity

What you'll need
  • 4-7 years of experience in performance marketing design, motion design, or a related role at a tech or consumer company
  • A portfolio that shows range across video ads, motion graphics and static performance creative - with clear evidence of craft and art direction judgment, not just execution
  • Strong motion design skills - you're fluent in After Effects, Premiere, or equivalent, and can produce polished animated and video assets independently
  • Solid graphic design fundamentals - typography, layout, color - applied to high-converting ad formats, not just editorial or brand work
  • Hands-on experience using AI image and video generation tools with an art director's eye - you know how to prompt, iterate and finish work that looks intentional
  • Comfort with performance data - you can look at creative metrics and know what visual changes to make next
  • Ability to operate at high velocity across multiple simultaneous campaigns without sacrificing quality
  • Experience working closely with copywriters, growth marketers and product teams in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience in AI, creative tools or developer-adjacent products is a strong plus

Runway strives to recruit and retain exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds while ensuring pay equity for our team. Our salary ranges are based on competitive market rates for our size, stage and industry, and salary is just one part of the overall compensation package we provide.
There are many factors that go into salary determinations, including relevant experience, skill level and qualifications assessed during the interview process, and maintaining internal equity with peers on the team. The range shared below is a general expectation for the function as posted, but we are also open to considering candidates who may be more or less experienced than outlined in the job description. In this case, we will communicate any updates in the expected salary range.
Lastly, the provided range is the expected salary for candidates in the U.S. Outside of those regions, there may be a change in the range, which again, will be communicated to candidates.
