Position Overview

Location: Travel throughout North Carolina and Virginia

Nu-Pipe is seeking a dependable and skilled Traveling Lead Mechanic to oversee the maintenance and repair of our specialized spincasting construction equipment. This field-based leadership role is critical in keeping our fleet of mixers, pumps, compressors, and support vehicles running safely and efficiently across multiple job sites. You will lead mechanical operations in the field, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal equipment performance.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Lead diagnostic, maintenance, and repair efforts for diesel engines, hydraulic systems, compressors, and rotating equipment.

  • Conduct on-site equipment inspections and preventive maintenance planning.

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on spincasting rigs and support vehicles.

  • Travel regularly to multiple project locations and coordinate repairs across sites.

  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate repair plans with operations and project managers.

  • Mentor and guide junior mechanics in the field, ensuring best practices and safety standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on mechanic experience with heavy construction or industrial equipment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

  • Comfortable working in remote or underground environments.

  • Valid driverโ€™s license (CDL preferred).

  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and guide a team.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, 10 days on / 4 days off.

  • Travel to multiple job sites required.
