MECHANIC

Salary Range: $22.00 To $25.00 Per Hour

Job Description: QED Systems, an established marine engineering, planning, and ship modernization firm, is seeking qualified individuals experienced in marine mechanical applications. The candidate must be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations, work under industrial repair conditions, work in confined spaces, and climb vertical/inclined ladders. Candidate must have: familiarity with mechanical systems and components such as overhauling, grooming & repairing various types of equipment onboard Navy ships; experience with centrifugal pumps, vertical package conveyors and valve maintenance. Understanding of technical documents including controlled work procedures (CWP), formal work procedures (FWP), test documents, and reports is preferred.

Job Requirements/skill sets: Experienced (5+ years) Marine Mechanic (Prior Navy) with a complete understanding of production processes and specialty trades functions and tools.

*Provide basic hand tools such as screw drivers, pliers, wrenches, saws and hammers.

*Desired skills and knowledge with some of the following equipment: Motor Driven Fire, AC, S/W & C/W system pumps, Vertical Package Conveyors, Fire Main, Chilled Water, JP5 valves of various sizes, JP5 Fuel Purifiers, DCVS/MVCS Hydraulic Actuator Stations, Sliding Padeyes, Gypsy winches, Mooring/Warping Capstans, Compressed Melt Units (CMU), Metal/Glass Shredders, Pulpers, aligning various types of pumps & motors.

*Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight will be determined by the specific job but no less than 30 pounds.

Credit given for U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard mechanical experience. The individual must also be able to read, interpret, and follow blue prints, drawings, and technical manuals. Some travel is possible.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma required. Military technical school(s) desirable.

Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance and be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
