Job description

Our Client:

Our client is a leading financial services company and they are seeking a Debt Collection Specialist for their team. This is a temp to hire position (W2 Only) that is expected to last approximately 12 months with the opportunity to convert to permanent after that. The pay rate is $16.00 hr. plus some great additional monthly commission incentives. While this is a remote role, you must live within the Buffalo - Rochester, NY area to be considered.

Who We're Looking For:

Are you looking to use your excellent customer service skills to help people who owe money restart their payments? In this role, you'll be responsible for performing collection activities to recover losses from assigned accounts. You will be locating and communicating with debtors via telephone and written notices to obtain repayment in full or to establish acceptable payment arrangements. Additionally, you'll resolve non-routine issues as well as perform skip tracing and contract observance functions to ensure compliance of all company, client, and federal and state regulations.

What to Expect as a Debt Collection Specialist:

  • Communicate with debtors regarding the repayment of their delinquent debt
  • Perform skip tracing to locate debtors
  • Ensure all accounts are worked within client standards and Federal Regulations, including working within FDCPA, state regulations, department/division & DMO Compliance Policies
  • Maintain clear, concise and accurate documentation of all attempts and/or contacts made and received for accounts in accordance with company and client specifications
  • Participate in continuing education, training in industry career development, including maintaining current knowledge of and comply with all federal and state rules and regulations governing collections including FDCPA, Privacy Act, FCRA, etc.

Qualifications for Success:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months previous sales/customer service experience
  • Excellent negation, counseling and problem solving skills
  • Must have your own high-speed internet and a quiet professional home environment; laptop equipment will be provided to you
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present clean, organized, and thorough information
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Solid computer literacy in a Windows environment
  • Must be able to obtain required license for collections. Training will be provided!
