Job Description

Job Title:ย Growth & Capture Lead (Federal/Technical)

Location:ย Dayton, Ohio (Hybrid) - or - U.S. Remote (Eastern or Central Time Zone) *frequent travel to the Dayton, Ohio HQ

Overview

CompTech is seeking a high-impact Growth & Capture Lead to support and drive strategic federal opportunities. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for a strong capture professional with experience operating in competitive Tier 1 and Tier 2 environments. While this is a senior-level opportunity with significant ownership and visibility, it is not yet positioned at the formal "Director" level and is best suited for someone looking to continue growing into broader strategic growth leadership responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is someone who moves seamlessly between strategy and execution, takes ownership of pursuits, and remains closely involved in the day-to-day capture effort rather than functioning solely at the executive/director level. Operating at the intersection of growth, technology, and mission, this role partners directly with internal teams and government stakeholders to shape opportunities and develop winning approaches. The ideal candidate is hungry, competitive, and execution-focused, with the ability to translate emerging technologies, especially AI-into compelling strategies that drive measurable outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support full lifecycle capture activities, with immediate responsibility for select opportunities from identification through award
  • Contribute to and help drive win strategy development and execution for federal pursuits (DoD, DLA, federal civilian)
  • Lead and support solutioning efforts, translating technical capabilities into compelling, mission-focused approaches
  • Engage directly with government stakeholders to support mission understanding and early opportunity shaping
  • Build and help mature pipeline, supporting prioritization of high-value, high-probability opportunities
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (technical, pricing, contracts, proposal) to develop compliant, competitive bids
  • Support competitive analysis, black hats, and win theme development
  • Contribute directly to proposal writing, reviewing, and refining technical and management volumes
  • Execute capture activities with discipline, contributing to artifacts, gates, and overall process improvement

What Sets This Role Apart

  • Senior-level opportunity with immediate impact opportunity to take on meaningful capture ownership
  • Hands-on execution operates across both strategy and tactical delivery, not purely a management focused position.
  • Strong technical engagement supporting mission-driven federal programs and emerging technologies
  • AI-forward environment contributes to shaping opportunities influenced by emerging technologies
  • High visibility role within a growing organization opportunity to create structure, establish best practices, and drive results

Experience

  • 7-10 years of federal growth, business development, capture, and/or proposal experience within the GovCon space
  • Experience supporting small to mid-sized federal contractors in growth-oriented environments
  • Experience across DoD, federal civilian, or defense health environments, with exposure to customer engagement and opportunity shaping
  • Established or developing relationships within federal agencies and/or supporting ecosystem
  • Background combining technical delivery exposure with growth/capture responsibilities, including:
    • Familiarity with federal acquisition and contract vehicles (IDIQs, GWACs, MACs, BPAs, OTAS)
    • Working knowledge of cybersecurity, cloud, AI, and emerging technologies as they relate to federal opportunities and mission needs
    • Exposure to AI-enabled programs, digital transformation, or advanced analytics initiatives
  • Experience leading or playing a significant role in captures in the ~$5M-$30M range
  • Demonstrated ability to support pipeline growth, opportunity progression, and capture execution in competitive environments
  • Familiarity with Shipley or similar capture methodologies
  • S. citizenship required; active DoD Secret clearance (preferred); military experience (preferred)

Preferred Technical & Domain Experience

  • Working knowledge of enterprise IT and emerging technology environments, including:
  • Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, hybrid architectures)
  • Data platforms, system integrations, and digital modernization efforts
  • Networked and distributed systems within federal environments
  • AI/ML awareness in federal environments, including:
  • Understanding how AI is influencing mission delivery, acquisition, and competitive positioning
  • Ability to support identification of AI-enabled solutions aligned to agency priorities
  • Familiarity with automation, predictive analytics, and data-driven operations
  • Ability to engage credibly in technical discussions and translate concepts into clear, compelling win themes
  • Exposure to federal frameworks and compliance environments (e.g., NIST, RMF, data governance)

Compensation & Benefits

CompTech offers a compensation package designed to reward performance and impact:

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, with a structure designed to reward performance and impact. The package includes a base salary, performance-based bonus opportunities, and additional incentives tied to capture success, business growth, and strategic objectives.

In addition, CompTech offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health coverage, retirement options, paid time off, and opportunities for career growth and expanded responsibility.
